Hearthstone - That other, other, other Blizzard game

If bgh was removed, I think the major thing to adjust would be warlock hero power. Big decks are already crippled to aggro, even more so with the new sticky minions.

If bgh got taken out, handlock would absolutely dominate the meta.

If boom was adjusted to something like 7/4, perhaps it would slow down bgh usage. Or 5/5 (7/7 total stats with the extra bomb damage).

Boom is in so many decks, which makes bgh super valuable, which reduces the value of using other big cards. I honestly don’t care what changes, but I’d like to play rag again some day.

I run geddon, boom and rag and having all 3 is pretty great against bgh for me unless they run 2 which I really doubt. I can drop boom before rag in a neutral situation, or geddon after a quick clear/or to pressure on a neutral situation.

Think we discussed boom nerfs already, and we all kind of expect it. I just know that BGH was crafted a ton specifically for him but probably won’t go away this time now that people have that safety net.

Boom costing 8 or having his bombs activate the turn after he is played is all fine, hell I probably wouldn’t even dust him for a full refund if either happened.

  1. I think blizzard has said numerous times they will never nerf warlock hero power. I doubt they nerf any hero power, that has massive ramifications on a ton of things.

  2. BGH will go according to the meta. He was useless much of the time before Boom, a lot of decks don’t play big minions. So if boom falls out of favor, BGH will as well.

  3. I think it important Boom remain 7 cost. I like the bombs activating beginning of next turn. Boom bot 0/1 explode at beginning of your next turn dealing 1-3 damage to random enemy character. Dr. Boom stats could change to 7/5.

1 bgh has been run as standard before gvg was even released, its only more prevalant because of boom. Boom is run because the bots get value even after bgh

Pre gvg In druid, but standard in every class? Even now according to hearthpwn it is in 28% of decks. Dr boom is in over 37% of decks, and the ones that don’t are most certainly people who don’t have him (he is a legendary after all). BGH is an epic so most people should be able to get the dust if he is that essential, unlike Boom. Also Boom is maybe the highest value card in the game when you consider its value compared to its cost. It would be run regardless of BGH.

Hearthpwn decks =/= Decks actually being played. Sadly Hearthstats doesn’t have statistics on specific cards.

I’ve been tinkering on this deck since GvG came out and it did pretty well last season. I believe @Blindknagg can vouch for it since he has been on the far end of it a few times.

Wow I could actually make that deck besides bloodmage thalnos, and only having 1 arcane golem.

This is indeed sad. So then there is no way to tell how popular cards are except personal experience?

Yeah exactly but that still isn’t accurate, the thing is that they might have it but don’t get to play it as well. You pretty much have to weigh whether or not you can play around it or if you simply go by assume they don’t have it. I’ll shoot hearthstats a email about it, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up.

Thalnos is mainly there to cycle, force a ping and occasionally for the spellpower, 3 damage Backstab and 5 damage Eviscerate (and 5 damage Oil Flurry).
Arcane Golem is pretty important though, losing any amount of damage with this deck is pretty grave.
Replacements would be 1 Novice Engineer and 1 Wolf Rider.

I had a short rundown written down but I must have edited it away when I added the picture.

The deck can win on any turn between 5 and 8, a lot of the Huge blow out plays involve Blade Flurry which is the most important card. Bad match ups are Hunter, Warrior, some Druid and Freeze Mage variations, the rest are either even or in your favor.
You want to be very mindful on how you use your Preparations, Southsea Deckhand, Sap and Hero power. Some wins are set up by using Hero Power 3 turns earlier, hard casting Sprint while keeping Preparation or taking 12 damage by saving Sap. Others by using the same cards generously for tempo.
The first Shadowstep is generally best used on Coldlight, second one is more flexible.
Your damage is very explosive but also limited, keep your hand as sizable as possible.

The worst card in the deck is Loot Hoarder but I believe he is a necessary evil. I was initially playing with 2 Shivs instead but it left no body to eat a creature hit or 2 mana from a ping. Novice Engineer had a similar impact as Shiv, left alive more often than Loot Hoarder but not really accomplishing anything with it. The trade off is that Loot Hoarder is a terrible top deck.

Mulligan for Backstab, Agent, Deckhand, Blade Flurry and Deadly Poison against aggressive decks, generally keep Loot Hoarder if you have one of those and keep Thalnos only if you have a Blade Flurry or a Backstab. Midrange/Control keeps aren’t as specific, gravitate towards Loot Hoarder, Agent and Coldlight. Keep 1 sap against Druid and if confident, Warlock.

Sorry for the formatting.

Well played

Lot of people ran the Faceless manip -> bgh combo when druid was god and rag was really prevalent, but there was a lot of gnarly as fuck cards that were nerfed later on around then. Fucking murloc warlocks and prenerf blood imp, 8 mana pyroblast/mind control, 5 mana sylvanas.

I looked back at the blizzcon decks for top 16, and bgh was run less than I remembered, maybe 30% of decks I saw

I want to know which Dev thought eight mana pyro/mind control was a good decision.

Imma punch him in the kidney.

Mind Control was only a big deal because of the amount of Rag being run.

It was the go to legendary that everyone had because we hadn’t optimized as hard as we have now.

Made a holy roller/fuck yo minions deck. Played a pally mirror in ranked who ran shit murlocs and rush. It blew my god damn mind.

So successful win! May drop mountains for rag and Alex since they don’t want to stay out of my hands.

  1. The 2015 Hearthstone World championships were announced! Anyone going to try to make a serious run?

  2. The Raging Ragnaros cardback has nothing to do with an upcoming adventure but will be the reward for getting to rank 20 this month. I’ve already earned it with my Wailing Reaver deck…it went undefeated 5-0, got to 19 and got my daily completed as well. Now the deck probably has major problems, but it was a ton of fun. Unfreezing mage freeze spells (ha, I doubt the mage ever expected that), stealing secrets, breaking weapons, silencing everything, fel reaver shenanigans, etc.

  3. It is so rare to see murlocs. I got a hungry crab a long time ago, had it in my hunter deck for at least a month maybe more, didn’t get to use it once. I love the card, maybe one day murlocs will return.

  1. No, I have a job.

  2. Yeah the card back is pretty pimp, got it in an hour or so. Fought like three Priests as well which was new.

  3. Actually had a Murloc throwdown of my Shaman versus old school Warlock Murloc the other day. Murlocs are so close to being pretty viable but right now not so much, same with Pirates.

Yeah my pirate rogue deck seems to be a big failure, well I am missing the pirate that buffs the others, as well as some others.

shredder died in arena trading 2 for 1, deathrattle hits mad scientist, which deathrattled into mirror entity(in the process of helping kill a 4 drop), which copied force tank max.

pretty good value.

also gonna try to grind this month in ladder, kinda burned out on arena

The little elemental on the side is a pretty big tease towards molten core
