Some weird thing happened in my game just now. I was playing warlock and my opponent was priest. He stole my mistress of pain using a cabal shadow priest. He also has an auchenai soulpriest on the board. He attacked one of my minions with the mistress of pain, then his life total started going down from 28 to -3 and lost the game. What the fuck just happened lol
As with all healing effects, in combination with Auchenai Soulpriest the Mistress of Pain will instead deal damage to the controlling player.[2] However, in the case of the Mistress of Pain, the damage dealt as a result will be counted as damage dealt by the Mistress, meaning that her effect will trigger again and again until the controlling hero is destroyed.[2] This is not a bug.[2]
Hold up, thatâs like saying fire elementals are seeing reduced play because nerubian eggs exist. Cabal shadow priest is still godlike, especially great in the meta with all the mechs with 2 or less attack, the possibility of nabbing a 2 attack minion from shredder/skygolem, and shrinkmeister plays.
Priest has just yet to find a consistent deck that works in this meta. Furthermore itâs a very specific situation of having a auchenai and mistress on their board, and leaving a mistress of pain alone when you have auchenai on the board and shadowmadness/cabal in hand isnât gonna lose you games. Itâs a 1/4 that can be buffed but otherwise a fairly low threat minion.
HOWEVER, a priest could somehow have a shredder in play, either stolen cabals/thoughtsteal/shadow madness/etc⌠or mech priest, and then a mistress of pain can pop out. If your opponent is knowledgeable and notices you have those two on your board, they could simply attack it with a minion/weapon for the win. Now that is a pretty dire situation that can actually happen.
Well even with Mech Mage running around with a ton of targets youâre seeing a lot of Priests bringing Cabal down to 1 if not out of the deck entirely.
It just sucks being a Priest player. You canât do much of anything outside of a VERY specific meta. Priest is either ridiculously brokenâŚor simply not consistent enough to compete and honestly I donât think itâs possible to strike a balance for the class.
