Hearthstone - That other, other, other Blizzard game

Which flavor of lock do you see succeeding?

My paladin deck is pretty much done, but I’m just not too good with it. Quartermaster combos are really fun though.

Zoolock and Handlock will never go away, both decks have inherent strengths.

With the rise and rise of Demonlock, Warlock is in a really good place.

Well that would depend on how many death rattle minions put in the deck, particularly low drops (1s and 2s). Coin also helps tremendously. Not only that you have to get undertaker in your opening hand.

Yeah quartermaster and muster for battle (got a gold one recently, my first MFB) is a ton of fun. Just psychologically even if you don’t have the quartermaster in hand, removing the recruits seems to be a top priority for opponents.

Got my 3rd legendary today. Cairne Bloodhoof.

Next expansion around April. $$$

The chance to get Undertaker in your starting hand is ~52% (41% First) and the chance to go off in your typical Hunter deck after dropping it is >90% (>82%). I can’t fathom why you’d think the card is balanced.

Rumored to be pve oriented. I’d enjoy a new adventure.

Alright so less than 50% (averaging both going first and second) to get the undertaker opening hand. If you go first, the chance of undertaker being removed before he grows skyrockets as well. Now question what is the ‘typical’ hunter deck? Also by go off…do you mean grow once? How did you do your calculations?

So I had to look this up, since I assume we should be talking about competitive decks at high level. I guess this guy was a top 16 legend with undertaker hunter…

14 cards aren’t death rattle orientated. 4 (the highmanes and belchers) are high cost so unlikely to be relevent unless undertaker sits there for many turns. Just wondering how you calculate 90%.

Look forward to the new adventure, I did really like naxx cause you are guaranteed certain cards.

I used this for my calculations Hypergeometric distribution for both the Undertaker draw and the follow up (1 pump, the odds barely fall off for several). Your opening hand is 5 or 4 cards and you have a chance to see 9 or 7 cards including the mulligan. Belcher and Highmane are not included but they are relevant later in the game where a Undertaker helps fill your curve effectively.

The thing is that all the other neutral 1 drops look like shit compared to Undertaker, even class cards.

Isn’t it more like 42.5% if you go first and ~47% if you go second, to have the card in your starting hand? :v

UT hunter was ridiculous with a good opening hand. Made more ridiculous with the extra DR 1 drops from gvg. Without hunter in the opening hand, it was still a good deck… So hunters had a good chance to outright win while still causing opponents fits.

I wish they had made it a 1/3 for 2 with only attack going up. 2 is just so squishy.

Good, its a neutral 1 drop, reserve the 1/3s for class minions IMO

It should be 42% for first, rounded down by mistake. ~52% for second, ~47% is for seeing 8 cards afaik. I combined the chance of having one or both.

Ah ok, ye. Calculated it for first/second with discarding 3 or 4 cards.
Damn maths, can’t even play games without it!

Well, patch/nerf is live now, I’m curious how many hunters I’ll face tomorrow.

Take with a grain of salt:

Would be suprised to see many Hunters or Zoolocks until there is a good deck for them to copy.

Yeah all this makes sense honestly. I’ll check other threads for conversations about this.

Math checks out, but it is based on the assumption to mulligan for anything that isn’t undertaker right? However what about the many instances where you have another 1 or 2 drop particularly with death rattle, wouldn’t those be kept? Is that factored in? Also for the follow up which you said 90%, are you counting only 1 drops, 1 and 2 drops, are you using a competitive deck as example…or including every possible deathrattle minion possible?

Well that is how it is for every class/deck type. Some smart creative dude makes a great deck and takes it to legend and 99% of people copy it with little change if any at all.

Violet Teacher Hunter is quite nice. Hunter isn’t dead yet.

They can use violet teachers too?

I’m hoping it aint aggro.

Seeing the odd control hunter every now and again. Weird to play against because in your brain you are ready to face the rushdown and then they start trading.

the absolutely terrifying thing about it is when they play like a mid range hunter matchup; trade if needed and pressure face… and then they sneak in feign death sylvanas. Then all of a sudden you’re fucked.
