I live in Australia and our healthcare like our political system is a hybrid of British and American. The Liberals (our conservatives) tend to want to reduce the governments involvement in healthcare and leave it to providers or at least contract providers over centralisation (the party has factions). The Labor Party (our Democrats though more socialist) believe we should copy Scandinavia. It’s an ongoing argument and there won’t ever be an answer because as long as the rich are greedy and lobby to pay less taxes there will always be opposition to paying for something you’re not getting personal gain out of simply because you’re a citizen. Unfortunately some people don’t have a conscience or a sense of a social contract.
In Australia tho can’t you throw a poisonous spider at them and have them die and then replace those politicians?
I get the joke but it’s actually very safe here. 90% of the population live in massive cities. Rural Australia is a different story but not a lot of people live out in the bush.
It’s pretty simple. If we only provide healthcare to the rich, all the poor will disappear. Once all the poor are gone, only the rich remain. Result? Everyone in society is rich now.
