hey
I need more HDMI inputs on my TV. I have tried two HDMI Switches but the cox cable box is not compatible with it. Is there a list of approved HDMI Switched that works well with Cox cable boxes? check out some options BestAdvisor that i’ve looked at recently
have a good day
Assuming this isn’t a troll-post (since it’s just slightly more relevant than the Word or Excel troll-posts in recent years):
-
While this forum’s knowledge is pretty broad, even branching into A/V tech and equipment, we mainly specialize in console gaming, with a particular focus in arcade-style controllers/joysticks;
-
When you say “not compatible”, what happens? No image/sound, garbled image/sound, perfect image/sound but can’t switch inputs? A lot of potential different symptoms.
-
And finally, why not just call Cox tech support and ask them? It would definitely be a better chance that they’d know, compared to asking on arcade-joystick-centered gaming forum.
I believed that gamers exactly those people who know lots of tech related stuff, that was the reason for me to post here, though your statements are fair too.
i was posting at their forum too about a month ago, still havent received clear solution for my case
thnx for your response anyway
you are wrong though funny that you think so
Okay, so Long story short.
There alot of mitigating factors, such as High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP), whether or not your HDMI signal coming from the switch/splitter is with in HDMI Specs and how tightly your HD Display interpret those HDMI specs.
Typically you want to strip the HDCP protection (and many splitters will do this) except when you don’t.
Since HDMI enabled players and cable boxes carries Video, Audio and Networking, there sometimes the demand to send HDCP to your Display and the Display needs to acknowledge they got HDCP (and the right HDCP) for the “handshake” between devices.
Sometimes devices that require HDCP do not want to play nice with non-HDCP compliant equipment.
That Sometimes include HD Displays. Its also possible your Display isn’t HDCP compliant.
If your TV has more than 1 HDMI Port, make one port on your TV a dedicated Cable box Port with no Switches or splitters, and use the Switch/Splitter with Game consoles.
Honestly without knowing what model cable box you use, and what security settings it has, its a huge Crap Shoot.
Your best chance is trying out Your Cable Companies own Forums.
