I would have thought that this was worked out with everyone beforehand. To hear that this was a surprise to all the makers of those films is crazy.

This sucks for directors, and fans of film; but honestly - theaters in my area have been the equivalent of a seedy truck stop restroom in need of janitorial attention. I do believe the medium needs to evolve, and if home releases will act as a plebe filter to keep the mouth breathers and morons out of theaters, then Iām all for it.
Iād much prefer the dumbasses stay at home to talk over movies, so cultured fans can enter the theater and enjoy a cinematic experience.
Alternately, big thoughtless cash grabbing multiplex theater chains can be repurposed as Amazon warehouses, and smaller theater chains backed by auteurs where an appreciation of film can arise and ensure the movie going experience is preserved for fans of film. Not just big, dumb, loud Coca Cola sugar sales farms that happen to show whatever the studio system thoughtlessly churns out to extract cash from the easily distracted.
Honestly I can see both sides on this situation. I mean were in a pandemic and the majority of folks donāt feel safe going out, let alone a movie theater. I know all the theaters in my area and state are shut the fuck down. They are starting to look like relics of old. I heard from some people a reason they didnāt like going to the movies was the price of everything.
I usually go to Regal and a medium popcorn there is almost $8 and a medium drink is $5. Too bad I canāt sneak shit in anymore because they use to check bags before you went into the theater.

My friend went in August when they started to open some again and she asked for a medium coffee. She said she felt bad not ordering the large one cause they had to turn the machine on just for her drink lol
