My order arrived yesterday. Yay!
I’ve more or less declared the Sanwa buttons to be obsolete for me already. Still barely tried the HBFS with cherry mx brown - installed the cherry mx red ones first.

With Red is like Sanwa, With Black closer to Sanwa OBSF30-RG.
With Brown like Hori, Seimitsu.
Blue is probably more like American style Happ.
Any other comparison is way off…
Also these buttons still sit way to high for the 2mm needed to activate. Im shaving down my cap centers and switch tops to get the caps to sit lower. Who ever said there the same height as a Sanwa is a bloody liar. And yes i have installed them properly.
These are some killer buttons. With the red switches, they give incredible response, and make piano inputs a breeze. Even for shmups (I play 1943: The Battle of Midway primarily), these can take the beating.
I mounted them in my Brawlstick this afternoon successfully. You guys weren’t kidding regarding a snug fit in the holes, but I managed to get them all in there with some elbow grease. I did encounter a couple hiccups along the way such as the tabs, but was able to recover. The button height gives more of a leaf switch button kinda feel, without the heavy pressure that they can have sometimes. The engagement spacing might throw of some, but for my heavy hands I don’t notice it, if at all.
I look forward to your other products, MilkShark!
milkshark,
do you have any buttons left in stock with mx blues?
Received my order today (russian post is slooow)! Buttons look very nice, but i’ll need to build new custom case for them, for my current one has 5mm top panel, and these buttons require 4mm max thickness.
Sorry for the late reply.
I just took one button, half-inserted it and used a Sharpie to mark where the tabs lined up.
Repeat for each hole.
Are the size of the art cutouts for the G2’s the same as clear Seimitsu’s? Because Sanwa art cutouts are bigger…
The size of art for G2 is 21mm.
This is a bit of an odd thing to ask, but does anyone who bought the G1 way back before the new buttons still have some of the keyswitch-to-QD adapter sockets that they’d be willing to part with? I’m working with Cherry switches, but even after soldering the pins are quite flimsy and break when I’m working with them. So, I think gluing the adapter sockets to the switches will make it much easier to work with both because of the extra sturdiness and because I can just use QDs to wire them up, which would greatly help me.
I’ve contacted Kao about the matter but I don’t want to just make the assumption that they have a bunch of them lying around after they’ve been discontinued.
I have a question. are good GamerFinger (HBFS-30) buttons? I want to try and want to know that you think of them
Well ive owned them for months and only just installed them. I have the black HBFS 30 g2 with the clear tops and they feel great, i thought the extra ride height would annoy me but i think i like it.
For some reason the black button caps feel soggy and sit lower compared to the white decal ones???
Running blue switches in all 16 buttons, and loving it.
One of the caps on my buttons keeps coming off in the middle of play. No matter how many times I put it back on it keeps popping off. Double tapping seems to really make it fall off. Is there anything I can do about this or am I just out a button?
So after reading through this whole thread it sounds like there’s still issues with the buttons, especially the clears being too tight, was really considering getting these clears =/
Just use a dremel to very slightly widen the button holes. Don’t be scurred of power tools. Power tools are friends.
Any word on the Gamer Finger optical stick and DIY case yet?
Got these a few days ago, MX Reds are nice for fighters but i need my tactile feel. Brown wasn’t enough so I decided to go with clears or blues; I have both but still can’t decide between the two.
Random question: has anyone had problems with the plunger getting stuck on the rim of the HBSFs? When I installed new switches and put the caps in, i noticed that sometimes when I press the plunger gets stuck on the rims. I’ll probably file down the rims but I was curious if anyone else had this problem.
This is my current #1 concern about purchasing another set of these buttons. I bought the original batch a couple of years ago, and after nearly 2 years of extremely rare use this issue was plauging me during play. While the HBSF30’s almost instantly became my preferred button, the largest flaw outside of the adapter things was the caps falling off during gameplay.
Unfortunately, the concept of finding a button cap mid-combo drove me back to my loud and now uncomfortable seimitsus.
All I wish to know is if the G2 has made some attempt to address this issue.
I should have posted in the thread, but the situation was fixed. The cap attaches to the top of the microswitch and I guess the plastic kinda wore out and didn’t hold properly, but Pei was gracious enough to not only send me a new cap but a new microswitch, put everything together and bam, back to a full set of killer buttons. I’m really loving the design of the buttons, being able to swap out individual parts of the buttons feels great. I hope that in the future this is expanded upon and you would be able to buy each piece of the button individually, because that sort of modularity is what I live for.
Has anyone applied these buttons to an arcade stick that has a plexi glass cover because Im wondering if its going to be possible to get these buttons in to the case with the hard plastic shell the buttons have. Also Im having a real hard time trying to insert the clear hbsf30’s into my te and I don’t own a dremel is there any other alternatives to get them to fit in my case easier. melting the little bumps on the side maybe? Is that viable?
Hmmm. Word on more units being manufactured? A friend wants these buttons (he tried out mine :P) and they’re out of stock both on gamerfinger and focusattack… D:
