HBFS-30 New Color Release~All New Arcade Button~Update: 05/10/2014

Yeah, I had the button tabs align with the gaps but it’s still very difficult to get them in.

Some quick reviews:
I think the Crystals are different than the Blacks. All of my Crystals I had a pain in the ass trying to get the keyswitches into the button. NONE of them clicked. I’ve only tried one black, and it clicked. If they don’t click, I’ve had problems with buttons sticking in the depressed position and some button tops almost coming out of the buttons.

I don’t like how difficult it is to get the buttons in and out of the 30mm holes. Sanwas are fairly easy to pop in and out. Whatever material these buttons are made of seems stiffer and I literally had to pound on the buttons to get them to go in. Now that I want to take some of the Crystals out and replace them with Black, it’s becoming almost impossible for me to do so.

I don’t really care for the Red keyswitches because I don’t like Seimetsu at all but they feel similar and are definitely pretty silent. I’m sure they’ll last a while too. I love the Blue keyswitches even thought they’re a lot louder. They’re very Sanwa-ish. Although it begs the question- why not just get Sanwa? I’ll still have to play with them a little more, but I like them at least equally to Sanwa as of right now. I haven’t tried the other switches yet, but will post reviews when I do.

I wish the adapter fit better though. They seem to slide off the buttons pretty easily. I don’t want to hot glue them to my buttons either. I also wish they were a little less flimsy, but I haven’t broken any of mine- just bent them a few times.

Overall I’m satisfied with the purchase. There’s still room to grow to have a finished product with a complete package, but this is definitely good progress. Packaging of the product was very nice.

Got 6 crystals with Reds from Gummo over the weekend. Got some practice this morning, gonna take a little bit to get used to, but I didn’t wake up the house. Success!

They were a too tight fit in my original TE. The edges got shaved by the metal plate upon insertion which kept a few buttons from being fully even. Just would take some time to remove them and reinsert them to fix the issue, but as SmokeMaxX said, they are a super tight fit. Gummo told me that the adapter could be a annoying at times, and after taking a look at it; I decided to just solder to the contacts which is a very solid connection despite the small stature of the contact.

Thumbs up from me. Great looking packaging. Cool unique product. With the rated 50 Million presses, I plan to be good to go for years.

Only 50 million? With the way I play Blanka in SF4 and UMvC3 in general, that should last me about 15 minutes.

I didn’t preorder but I just got the clears I ordered on New Years Day. Thought I would post just so people know that even the non-preorder folks are getting their stuff pretty quick.

Did you try rotating the switches through 90 degrees to see if they fit better that way?

Yeah.

I finally “installed” these in my Razer Beta stick. I say “installed” with quotes because those adapters are terrible. I messed with the buttons for 30 minutes and after bending the crap out of 2 of the adapters I took it really slow and got 6 of the 8 buttons installed. The other 2 just will NOT stay on.

I will probably end up using hot glue or something, or just not using these buttons all together. I love the feel of the buttons but the switch adapter situation needs to change.

What does the spot on keyboard PCBs look like that the switches plug into? Perhaps something like that can be done. This just doesn’t work properly.

the switches are normally mounted on a giant pcb and/or metal plate, similar to the way the Hori VX/V3 buttons are attached to a PCB.

I almost wished that they would have stuck with the original idea of just including a wire adapter instead of the QD one.

Yeah, I wonder what did they mix into the plastic for the clears. They are a little obnoxious to take out but at least the tabs aren’t breaking like the sanwas after one insert.

So there isn’t a trick to get the quick-disconnect things to stay? That’s where I’m stuck right now: I’ll put one on and then it’ll “quickly disconnect” on its own as I’m putting in the next one. The actual buttons are stuck in the stick now too so I can’t even take them out and put my old buttons back in. I’m out a stick at this point. =(

These things are the devil:

I guess there isn’t really a big deal with supergluing/hotgluing them to the adapters. I might do that. I wish the buttons would come out of the stick though.

Yeah, my biggest concern is being able to remove the switches after if you glue them down. The switches seem to fall out of the buttons consistently enough as long as you put enough pressure on it from the underside (I use fat pen and push it).

Still, interesting and cool product. I’m liking these more than Sanwas so far. Not as much as dem clear Seimitsus though.

I put a spot of blutak to ensure the adapters stay on the switches.

Milkshark please reply to my PM

I found putting the QDs on was much easier after squeezing the adaptor prongs flat. Still would prefer a stronger metel though as they still easily bend.

I think I would much rather be able to solder an adapter to the switch so i wouldn’t have to worry about the adapter falling off.

yes, they are. I had a similar experience.

I eventually did get the buttons sitting perfectly and they worked fine. Then recently I switched out my artwork and had a lot of trouble getting the buttons out and back in, and then getting them to sit together properly, so I just went back to Sanwa.

I’m having the same issues. The crystals are a tight fit all round and the adapters are as good as useless. I’m going to hand solder tabs directly to the switches and possibly file down the edges of where the mx buttons go in so they click in place.

My Atomiswave stick.

based on the OP, the reds are the most sensitive and the browns are the same to sanwa?
