Yo ducky, if you’re heading out to mililani for some T6, and if they have it, then i might pop up myself. It’d be dope cause i never tried it myself. And on another note, all the other hawaii gamers whatever threads need to go. We just need a general hawaii thread. I dont like it when a new thread is being made when someone is playing at a different location. Cause shit, that gives me the right to make a mililani fun factory thread cause ima go and play Tekken 6 over there now lol. amirite?
^^I see what you mean.^^
We always end up playing at the same place(HBB).
Ducky: Tomorrow afternoon is wide open for me so I’ll probably stop by which ever FF(PR or Mills).
Kimo - they have T6 and they changed the rounds to 3 out of 5 like the other FF’s. Really good since you have more time to practice up and you can spare a round or two in order to practice some combos. Also, they fixed the controls there. I guess something was broke but it’s fixed now, some people posted. If you want to check it out and need someone to get a few games in with just text me or something… I’m not an expert on the game by any means but I have enough carry over knowledge from T3/TTT/T4/T5/DR so I’m not a pushover.
bears - yeah, hopefully I’ll see you at one location or the other. lol
As for combining threads, I don’t really care about it either way. No one really plays Tekken here (I post on TZ for that) and the gaming scene here is broken up in odd ways. A lot of the older players don’t play anymore because of work or families or what not and there are some players who dedicate a great deal of time into games. People who play one game or play another game… and of course, all the random misunderstandings between them. For example, some people were saying HBB is the only place the real players play, but now there is Eric’s Arcade? And the Tekken players never bothered with HBB in the first place since there is Tilt/FF and TZ. Having a single thread would clean things up but having multiple threads keeps things from getting too convoluted.
I don’t run things here so I don’t give a fuck. Someone page PSX! lol
The Eric’s Arcade thing is there cause we play over at Eric’s house. I’m hoping PSX will close the old thread (the Kahala Zippy’s thread, cause we rarely go down there, now that we decided that Eric’s is probably where we are going to play gaming when not playing at HBBs especially since the outlook for HBBs looks bad, I mean Justin (if he is still there) is one of the only people that fixes games and he isn’t around all the time (especially during peak hours), I have no idea if anyone else can fix games.)
I don’t want the people that play over at Eric’s house to get in the way of the HVGL’s discussions and vice versa. Providing for more efficiency, like who needs to bring what (games, consoles, sticks, camera, laptop, etc.) and where we are playing if Eric’s house isn’t available at the last minute.
I was hoping to have the players that play at Erics to have a new start, that’s why I wanted to start from scratch. A new thread exchanging ideas, gaming strategies, thoughts on videos from players and our own (as we record some matches for review) with/from the guys I play against the most often ,so at least for me I improve the way I play, whenever I do go in for a session or two every now and then. (LOL…I hate seeing no progress in my game, explains why I retire every other weekend.)
I look in this thread and read about HVGL alot, cause it’s a good idea, but for us guys (who are kinda like a smaller version of HVGL), we don’t have those kinds of resources (manpower, financial and time wise) and we’re trying to make with what we have.
Happy New Year guys.
Well, I was more referring to casual players vs serious players. HVGL draws a more casual crowd.
I don’t go out to HVGL events often or HBB often at all since I have more pressing things to attend to most of the time. I imagine most players are more casual now anyway, since everyone pretty much grew up (and out of games).
It would get confusing having a bunch of different discussions going on anyway.
When is HBB starting that whole bar thing anyway? I never heard anything more on that or how they would promote it as such.
The last thing I remember regarding the bar was the liquor liscence thing. HBB didn’t get the liscence and that was it.
Fuck ye$!!! Utah is gonna win!
I think I showed up too early on Saturday at Millilani. When I got there, a little kid was on it mashing buttons, so I waited. Then I was like fuck it and jumped on. Then when the kid lost, I had only one match against the cpu and then someone hops on and owns me. Then I spent the rest of my money playing against him. I just concentrated on footsies, and the one little combo I learned. Some matches went all five rounds though, so I was kinda happy. It was a kind of a short visit because I realized that I couldn’t spend a lot on that day because of the huge blow my credit card took during the holiday season.
I ended up at Mililani FF during the late afternoon, early evening. I got there around 6. I cleaned up everyone who played me pretty easily and had a 10 game win streak before they just let me beat the game. I only had like a 50% win rate at Pearlridge FF though… most of the guys showed up there earlier, before I went to Mililani.
Damn, I showed up like around noon:rofl:. Wanted to get there early so I can at least have the machine by myself for a while. But that plan didn’t work.
The guys I played up there got rocked by me very easily. I triple perfected this one guy. I did notice that it was true what some other players told me about Mililani - they are card whores. I’ve been playing against the good players (and doing ok, but my win ratio is only about 50% because of a bunch of losses I got early on from |||||||||||| beasting on me) so my card’s ratio didn’t look too good… I guess they thought I was easy prey since they popped in their card and had a huge win ratio (like 75%+).
So you know, I decided to play serious, since I expected them to bring that work. I beat each guy down easily and I’m like WTF, how the hell did they win so much when they are so garbage? After getting a loss each, all the guys stopped using their cards so they wouldn’t hurt their win/loss ratios.
Did you get a card yet? Who are you using? I might know some combos/poke strings/useful stuff, depending on the character.
No card, maybe I should get one now since your win ratio made me a little bit more comfortable:rofl:. The guy that I played had mad wins on his card too. I was using bob at the time, and I like him. I was just relying on his 1, 2, 12 move everytime the guy whiffed something. Also his chest bump move cuz it did nice damage.
Bob is fucking BEASTLY! His juggles do crazy amount of damage. Simple juggles. One of the things in T6 though, you got to rely a lot more on safe poke strings and simple mixups. Pretty much all jabs are like 10 frames now, which helps a lot since you don’t get fucked up by the super fast characters poking you to death with 8 frame moves. It’s pretty balanced for the most part, but a step away from how TTT, T3 or even T5 played.
Anyone now if there’s a T6 machine in Kapolei? I need a place to practice.
Thats funny and sad at the same time. Like people quiting out of ranked matches online. Meh, win ratios. Like it matters. I want to go and teach them how to play King, just like how i rocked the hawaii tekken community when they came to HVGL that one time. I even beat that one dude with one hand on a pad. Even at Brians i had to walk away from the machine cause nobbody beat me. It sucked really, cause king is all i really know LOL. Ive been using him since 2001 and only him. I think if i sucked as him now, id stop playing Tekken. But its just too much fun.
I never knew anyone that played Tekken going to the HVGL meets… didn’t even know anyone played it at the meets. There are a few really good King and A.King players around. I know most of them. King is a little weaker in T6 IMO. A.King is better IMO… INSTANT SHINING WIZARD FTW!
Yea, it was shortly after the SF players dissappeared. I think someone went to the zaibatsu forums and posted about the HVGL event and all these guys came down for tekken 5 action. I brought my tekken 5 and sat around and watched and when i hopped in to play i won alot and then they all dissappeared shortly after that. Now when i play tekken its the online one on the PS3. At the HVGL i didnt give them any chances cause i had high expectations for them. But unlike me, im sure they didnt play as one focused character for about 5 or 6 hours straight when they were in high school. Memorizing all the combos and counters ha ha. And I was doing that shit for fun. Cause i liked King. It was the mask. So A. King is in Tekken 6 too? Thats awesome. I’m good with him on T5:DR but not as good as i am with king. Idk, i’ll check out the fun factory tomorrow… wait, wednesdsay. I’ll see how he is.
Which FF you visiting? What time? I’ll try and stop by to get some games in with you.
I’ll be heading out to FF in mililani tomorrow. I went to the FF in pearlridge today around 4. Nobody wanted to play with me, but they all watched. I even bought a memory card. Put 20 bucks on my card and played the cpu to get a feel. You’re right Ducky, King got nerfed badly. His 10 hit combos do some to almost half way damage. The link throws dont do as much damage as before. I was actually shocked at how weak he was. I still owned the computer though, untill my girl came around and wouldnt stop kissing my cheek. Today we celebrated our two year anniversary. Went to Farrells for lunch and then down to waikiki to walk and enjoy the sights then went to Cheeseburgers in Paradise for dinner. I was in FF for about 30 minutes or so playing Tekken. But yea, ima head to fun factory tomorrow. Probably from 10-maybe 2. Cause i got work in the afternoon.
I was there at 2 with BJ and Tex. Besides us, there wasn’t any decent players. We left by 3 though. I work during the day so I won’t be able to make it out there.
Don’t use 10 hits with anyone half decent. You will get low parried into DEATH. King has some nice new juggles… most King players never did too many link throws anyway. All you need is iSW! The style of the game is different nowadays. He does have some good stuff, but I think A.King is better. Watch some youtube videos.
Yup, don’t ever do ten strings because most of them are easily blocked or parried.
Link throws can be easily escaped by the better players out there too. It’s mainly juggles for King (well if I were to play him).
