Sure it is. Giving bad/incorrect advice is often confusing to new players.
Being wrong is a perfectly normal part of life. We’re all wrong sometimes. It isn’t like I kicked your dog.

No problem, Landwand. I’ve been playing this game since it came out, but this is the first fighting game I played where I actually had to learn combos. I started off not being able to do much at all. I just practiced things that I thought would be useful to make sure I could apply them. So, it took me over a year to get from where you are now to where I am… and I played the crap out of this game, was obsessed with frame data, and read everything I could about the game’s mechanics in my free time! So don’t be too critical of yourself… there are lots of people who have been playing the game for long enough by now.
Chaining is the act of canceling a move mid-animation into another.
Special Canceling is the act of canceling a move into a special.
Linking is the act of hitting the following move right after the animation of the last move ends.
So the tricky part:
Most light attacks are chainable into other light attacks. Some light attacks are special cancelable. A special cancelable light attack cannot be special canceled if it was chained into from another light attack.
An infamous example of this is in one of Rose’s trials: Cr. Jab , Cr. Jab , Cr. Jab xx LK Spiral.
Her jab is chainable, but in order to cancel the last jab into LK Spiral, the last two jabs need to be linked. And it’s a 1 frame link, which makes it very difficult. If you hit jab too fast, Rose will chain her jabs and it will be impossible to cancel the last jab into LK spiral. If you are too slow, the jabs won’t combo and the training dummy will block the rest of it. That useless POS combo requires you to be perfect- what an annoying trial.
(oh, btw, I recommend setting the dummy to auto-block if you are practicing links. Then you will know easily if you are too slow)
yeah your right about that and thank god you didnt kick my dog lol
