After picking up sfxt today I figured I could pick up on the combo system fairly easy since ive been playing marvel 3 since it came out. When i go into the trials to try and learn some of the combos for some reason i cant seem to link anything together besides a few basic combos here and there. I feel like its the timing like its way more precise than marvel. Was wondering if there was any tricks to help me nail down these combos. Am i going to fast? to slow? And im also using a ps3 controller, which i find somewhat unresponsive.
just make sure that the moves aren’t sump up to a chain combo. if you’re already in one of those you can only extend the combo with ex special cancels. otherwise just experiment with the timing. if it’s too fast you get the chain combo… too slow and the dummy blocks.
if you come from marvel3 you’re probably making the input too fast.
btw, do links even exist in marvel3? lol, I don’t play the game but judging from stream events the combo system seems to consist only of magic series and cancels.
Marvel has links. It just emphasizes chains a lot more. For example, most of Magnetos fly/airdash combos have a bunch of links in them.
For SFxT, try to look at the animation of the attack and see when it ends to determine when to time your next hit. You have to wait until the animation ends completely. You can also use sound cues to get the timing down. Just don’t mash out the inputs, it tends to not work (unless you’re doing boost combos). Once you get good at that, you should look up how to plink to make the timing of certain links easier.
Thanks for the help kron and yea ive been having problems with basic combos in the character trials its pretty depressing haha. I just gotta slow my roll from the sounds of things. And ive been using akuma and roland hows that combo. New to the whole sfxt thing and could use some good advice or pointers ( i know theres threads dedicated to this but oh well).
