Have there ever been tourneys for charity?

I’m kind of new to the scene, so sorry if this is a stupid question.
But yeah, have there ever been pro-level tourneys where all the entry money went to charity instead of to the winners? If so, details?

There was the fight for relief tournament for Japan, after the tsunami. It raised a lot of money.

There was also the Topanga Cup in Japan that raised 400k yen for disaster relief.

Also, remember the Chris Hu tourney drive after his home burnt down? They raised several grand overnight. O:

There have also been tournaments like NEC (I think that’s the one) that do canned food drives as well.

Wasn’t there a benefit tournament for the west coast guy who died in early 2010? Never had interaction with him, but I remember it, because that death was seriously tragic for the community.

I know Total Eclipse this year donated all their profits for the Japan disaster relief. There have been tournaments though in the US for either helping a fellow community member or raising funds for SBO qualifier trips.

Over here down in Richmond, we had a tournament that donated funds to SIDS research after one of our own, Moose, lost his daughter to SIDS.

We’re going to have another one in January too.

Sounds like Dasrik. I think they did have one.

This wasn’t a tournament but did happen recently:

I think most of the “charitable cause” tournaments are local events and so tend to slip through the cracks in terms of (SRK-as-a-whole) community awareness.
