I was about to say something along these lines.
it’s not like Seth Killian works for Capcom or anything.
lul

I’m pretty sure they know of it, but I don’t think they know how BIG it is… cause if they did, they would get the marvel license and make Marvel vs Capcom 3… cause we all know it’s going to be a HOT seller. if they want a hella-good money maker game, Marvel vs Capcom 3 is the way to go. If it did came out… preorders would be sold out without a doubt since so many players want in on it. all the oldschoolers, current players, and newcomers would want to play this game plus its something people have been hoping for for the longest time… probably won’t happen though.
Shooooot, the fans will make MVC3 before Capcom does. We already know how change the music and make custom colors; all we need now is to figure out how to tweak the gameplay (you KNOW somebody will eventually) and it’s in the bag.
Slap a MVC3 sticker on it and we’re good to go.
…This thread is full of lulz btw.
Just out of interest what kind of attendance figures does Evo draw? Because it would have to be pretty big to make it worth a game company’s, in this case Capcom’s, time to notice it. Even if every attendee was a guaranteed sale for a game (unlikely) I still dont think you’d be seeing even 5% of the return that Capcom makes on shitty games that get global releases. Its a question of scale really. Of course Evo may have a much higher attendance than I think and I could be just talking out my ass.
According to ESA, Fighting Games represents 4.6% of units sold (2006).

Does they gave up on Fighting genre?
If they put some money, they could rise this number, it would, in return, give more profits in a exponential plot, by making games more popular again and dominating the market - they are the SF owners, for Christ sake! - but I don’t have the numbers. For sure, there is always return.
1,000 dollars I could put on my own, it costs less than my Airplane tickets to EVO (BR-US, US-BR ~ US$ 1,200). The less they put, the less they are seen.
Capcom could care less. If it’s not generating them assloads of cash, they don’t give two shits about a very niche, likely dying genre in America.
This is a good point, but it’s a lot to risk. Any way you slice it, they won’t be making a ton of money off of it like they did back in the glory days. Creating new games in an attempt to get the SF name back out there would be a pretty risky gamble, and entertainment companies tend not to take those big risks.
Hopefully, ST:HD will generate new interest, in a fairly low-risk way for Capcom. Then, only then, will we have a hope in hell of getting new Street Fighter.
Damn right!
Both are teh suck
Exactly. Too many people consider fighters (2D especially) a dying/dead genre. MvC3, I think would have a broad enough appeal simply because of the super heroes, but I don’t think SF4 has a chance in hell unless ST:HD does some damage.
man you guys are bitter
Well, I guess we have a right to be. It sucks seeing something that we love so much go down in flames with nothing we can do to stop it. Personally, it just makes me cringe that when I finally get old enough to get out of my shitty town with zero comp and no machines (I finally saw my first 3S machine a month ago) I keep getting slapped in the face with the knowledge that the scene has no chance to survive.
And before anybody starts with the whole “Arcana Heart/Melty Blood/Guilty Gear is the future,” I need to point out that not every arcade would be willing or able to get a machine in the first place. Not all cities/states are as open-minded as others, and I can hardly imagine any arcade in South Georgia carrying any sort of anime/loli/whatever fighter. I was born and raised there, so I figure I would know. And even though those games are gonna be available to play at home, they aren’t for everybody and I know that unless they take off like a rocket, it’s going to be hard to come by a copy. It’s just like Fatal Fury Battle Archives and the Art of Fighting Anthology. I had to go to about forty different stores to find those two games. I know I’ll have just the same type of problems with any kind of fighter that comes out these days, save for maybe Tekken and Soul Calibur, as they seem to get the most play from the general populace as far as fighters go.
But yeah, you’re right. I am bitter…
Oh well, I’ll just play some of that HD Remix and hope that enough people buy it to give Capcom the motivation to just put out a Street Fighter 4. Even if it’s not that great, I don’t care.
Yes they heard about it…cheap asses put in 1000, which is still good. That means they notice us. That could lead to way more.
Shut the fuck up about SF4.
At the risk of sounding cliche, too many of you think “What can Capcom do to promote the fighting game scene” as opposed to “What can I do to promote the fighting game scene (and in turn, show Capcom there is money to be made in fighting games yet)”. The lament of the dying fighting game scene is tired, and bitching online doesn’t improve the situation. Get off your ass and do something, instead of making up figures about the potential of the fighting game scene. I’d think the market analysts at Capcom have a better idea of the profit potential of fighting games than enthusiasts looking through rose colored lenses.
you 20 people that love fighters need to move on already! Fighters are DEAD! Can’t believe ppl here are still playing the same 20 year old games while everyone else has moved on! If anyone really wants to get into the competive scene the genre is FPS now or 1on1 FPS games now.
If you’re going to talk to me like that, it’ll sound a lot more convincing with your lips on my dick.
Yeah…shhhh. 3rd Strike on ESPN. The future of fighting games.
