I get what you are saying but I almost think you need to “get off your high horse”
I play shooto in any of the older street fighter games because I like them best, I am quite good with Balrog or Guile but I just tend to think Shotos are sweeter.
Alpha and up I used Dan (if you count him as one)
Been maining Ryu ever since I played Street Fighter II for the first time in the arcade in my local pizza shop. And all I can say is I love and have fun playing this character, sure I have some pocket picks but for the most part I’m a Ryu player. And the least thing I’m worried about is some random player stating shotos are for beginners or scrubs, pick whoever you enjoy playing and don’t be an elitist. We have too many of those in the FGC …
I think when you play against a player who uses a character beyond what you’re capable of using, you don’t really care who they use. A good shoto (and especially non-shotos; heavy-hitters from SRK, who almost never play with scrubs), who can exploit my mistakes, are always desirable to play against. Unfortunately I encounter them too rarely enough compared to most other players.
People who habitually play unsafe and play an obvious, extreme style are always irritating. For shotos, it would be player types who mash, ragequit, or send hatemail; their style of play reflects their attitudes. It’s like, constant, random roundhouse tatsus, random fierce shoryukens, combined with frantic zoning.
