Who do you play? 
Shotos tend to be more appealing to beginners and more common, but I have no problem with people using them, good or bad. Everyone starts somewhere and I believe that the first step towards getting better is to find someone that youāre comfortable with and then polishing your play with them. If the most comfortable choice for some people just so happens to be a Shoto, then so be it. Doesnāt matter if theyāre good or crappy. You canāt improve if you donāt practice.
So if people want to play Shotos, then I say go for it.

Every character is fine except Honda. Honda players should feel ashamed. :wonder:
ken. i hate ken so much i dont have words for it.

oh and his corner pressure, i suck at this game so it drives me crazy.

Doesnāt every one play Ryu or Ken when they first start out but then quickly realize that there harder to play than they look? Iād agree most people play them wrong and itās sad but a skilled player makes them look so good and fun. I donāt know maybe Iām biased but I kinda like beating on them and since everyone plays them, I get lots of win! 
In the right hands shoto characters are a thrill to watch. They know when to apply pressure and when to play defensively. Their space control is top knotch, keeping their enemies exactly where they want them. Maybe itās just me but I enjoy watching great shoto players.
lol dont hate the charachters, because for every one thing that annoys you about them there is something that will annoy a shoto char about other chars.

Sagat isnāt technically a shoto, but heās pretty close (DP, fireball) and his play style is similar so I lump him in with them.
You are correct, Dhalsim is the only non-shoto/Sagat character who has a projectile and is not a charge character. So much for variety.
I am counting the days until SF IV comes out.

same here except this older player (who showed me how to play FG) broke me of that habit early. he always picked what he called āfreakyā looking characters like Gief, Balrog, Dhalsim, etc, but never ken/ryu and rarely sagat.
thatās strange. i mean, it looks like times havenāt changed. surely, you recall challengers picking ken/ryu/akuma was common even in those days. strangely enough, IIRC, sagat wasnāt picked as often as those 3.
no hate. in fact, itās quite the opposite. i love beating down the fireball brothers.

Sagatās problem is his fireballs tend to make him lean out a great deal and enough to be able to jump in with a kick.
With shotos, you can play people on range and punish jumpers with a dp a lot better then Sagat can.
Granted his ability to juggle with knees is decent but landing them, when thereās a decent amount of counters to that move is the tricky part.
As for hating shotos, they are rather strong, especially akuma, who gains all the advantages of ryu except the top down. His ability to lock characters in a blocking stance is probably even better then Balrog.
I think I played 6 Kenās in a row on XBL. I hate ken now.
I get over playing them too. Especially when they think they have a new strategy when they pick Ken.
I donāt mind losing to them, because then Iāll learn how to beat them easier. Itās just the same thing over and over and over again gets to me.
i only hate akuma in fact i like shoto fights even the not sooo god skilled ones sometimes land hits on my gief ^^
but akuma maybe sirlin consider him balanced dont know maybe its a gief only issue but in my opinion he is way to powerfull green hand did not work against redfireballsā¦ if he got his super even a blockstun works with itā¦ no lariats when his super is ready
straight upwardjump + airfireball unbeatable i tryed greenhand+punish did not work all the time its a hell for gief honestly dont know wath sirlin was thinken
BUT shotos except him are well balanced and jab DP is hard to conter even when you know its comming
like the fights but do not know why ken seems harder for my gief then ryuā¦

Soā¦Iām just an average player but I get my wins in. I main Ryu and play with him all the time. But I could care less who my challenger picks. Shoto or notā¦if I get beat then I get beat! Yeah a LOT of people use shotosā¦why? What characters a highlighted right at the beginning of the character selection screen??? And most people are familiar with them anyway. So if thatās the case and everyone knows them then they should be easily beaten right? For the most part yeah there are a lot of ābeginnerā shotos out there getting creamed. But what about the pro shotos. Why canāt you beat them even after picking 6 different characters? I play Ryu all the time because when you get to āknow himāā¦he becomes a great all around fighter.
