Most characters have better comeback tools than Bison. You can at least force a mixup with most characters and if they hit you with even a small mistake, it’ll do more than the ~200 damage that Bison does.

Yes Mike we all know Blanka is a terrible character, we understand. Sim is also in the same boat, but he has reliable AA’s and a lot more to avoid getting stuck in that situation to begin with. The trade off is that Bison only has a couple of bad matchups, and SIm has about 5 7-3/8-2 matchups.
The biggest thing I think jakob, is that jwong can’t tell the difference between what is outplaying and what is bad matchup. Like, ya sure, Rufus can punish scissor kick with dive kick, but I think you’d be hard pressed to find anyone that can do that besides him and Ortiz. I think when you start going that farm into matchups, its the person and not the characters anymore. In theory of what jwong says, that means that Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Dan, Sagat, Cammy etc… all beat bison free, b/c they can sit at a safe range and DP you’re scissors on reaction every time.
I think of that match more of the way Gief players feel about fighting viper, gief gets close he takes 40% guaranteed, and they forget the viper player is on pins and needles the whole game. It blurs the lines of who is actually outplaying who.
So basically, in the end, I’d just say its even, have a coke and a smile.

I tested it in training mode myself and while possible, it is very difficult, so no credit is taken away from Justin. However, had I been AWARE that it was possible to do so I would have been able to adapt accordingly by altering the spacing and messing with his reactions to bait out the divekicks & sweeps. It’s the same reason I fight Sanford’s Ryu/Sagat different than any other because he’s the only player I play that can DP SK’s on reaction. I also did a very poor job of punishing his sweeps which allowed him to throw them out freely. He on the other hand, was on point with all of his punishes. Whenever it got close at the end I always took an unnecessary risk that cost me the game.
It’s all a learning experience. I’ll win next time.
