people generally dont let me compete with my vega in major tourneys here, i’ve never been invited, and they all try to do them as secretly as possible, eventhough im standing right there and they know i want to challenge them

its because ive beat them all on many occasions with vega, against their best cody, twin, dudley, ibuki, oni, bison, boxer, adon or anyone else…

they simply dont want it to get out that they lost to vega, or that there was a tournament where vega won, because then the world would all think they were the worst players on the planet

I have played tournament champion SuperSF4 Cammys & Fei Longs and beat him with my Vega after the tourney, and Tournament champion Vipers, Sagats, and Hondas in Vanilla, and beat them with my Vega as well, after the tourney

Vega’s pretty easy to beat Tourney Champions with, because at tourneys its already about who has the longest combo and Jab spam, and my vega doesnt have any long Combos at all, i think JFHP - STHP - CRMP, EXFB - Izuna is probably my longest

they win tourneys by spamming crappy jabspam-to-infinite-combos like their life depended on it

its very far from impossible for a top tier Major Champ to lose to my Vega

and if I was given 2 matches, both with 5 round limit, the odds increase to well over 50%

I’ve won two small ones in singles and a 2v2. I think I tied for 9th at NCR8 ago or got top 16. And dammit I keep getting closer to winning a TNT, but it’s always that one mistake that bites me in the ass every time! I feel like I’ve been doing a lot better, but there is still definitely room for improvement. At least I’m being consistent for the most part.

this is from the early days of AE a japanese 3vs3 tourney…i don’t know if it qualifies as a mayor and yeah this is a 3vs3 but it is like 90% the victory of the Vega player in the team (Isotope)…the other guys where there pretty much to make him look even better…i remember that this was especialy satisfying to watch cause he beat some top players (Amiyu, Cantona) and overcome bad match ups (Yun, Seth) to get there…and this was all in AE days…so i expect Vega winning a tournament again…it takes a combination of flawless keep away game and risk managemend but Vega can and probably will win a mayor eventually…Isotope faded into obscurity and i could´nt find any more matches of him…

Im not even sure if Shiro had a stream going this time around, was a different venue than Overclocked as well, coinciding with the “taste of Animethon” event (with only 2 set-ups for Street Fighter and somethin like 8 set-ups for Brawl >_<). Shoutouts to Shiro for running a good tourney tho :tup:

Joz had a good tilt with Lapchi’s Blanka tho. I didn’t see his fight with Street11 in the finals tho as my buddy was quite burnt out from all the Otaku madness and we were headin home :stuck_out_tongue:

Wish me luck at Winter Brawl this weekend! Teaming with a Yun (remybleu) and a Gief (djeric) so long as they make it to Philly ok. I think that’s a pretty good matchup synergy as far as covering eachother’s bases.

Hey Meteo you made it to top 8 with your team… I watched the stream the whole afternoon and did’nt see any of your team matches meaby I missed then somehow…the level on that tournament seemed pretty high so congratulations man…

Nah I didn’t make any notable achievemnts. Teams were capped at 32 and it was a brutal single elimination where once each person on your team loses 1 game in a match the team is out. We made it to Top 8 by winning 2 games haha. Top 4+ was in our hands but I dropped the ball vs a Blanka player I had on the ropes and the team took a hit from the Sakura after him that I felt confident against, and we lost. Remibleu and DJEric brought me on as a Sagat-killer, and I certainly did my job in the matches before that.

Fun times though, I was around for casuals on Friday and crashed with a bunch of people by bribing them with food and pizza. By the end of teams on Saturday I was already burnt out from partying and all-night casuals around the hotel, haha.

In singles I got knocked down to losers on the second round where one of the better Sagats stole my win. I’m confident I would have won that match had I not gotten a negative-edge LP.SHC that put me in on the defense at the end of the round instead of on the offense where I was. In losers I was demolished by a very good Guy player, Guy has always been a very difficult matchup for me for some reason. I wish they posted the full brackets because I’m bad at remembering names. The Sagat was either Lionheart or Santhrax and I forget the Guy’s name but my friend Zack who helped run the tourney claimed he may have been the best GUy present.

Also in the lobby casuals, I got to have a First-to-3 vs Justin Wong’s full-power Rufus. I took 1 round, haha. I really don’t think Vega stands a fair chance vs him at high-level play, so I’m learning Ken now as my official alt. In my experience, sticking with Vega has been a better choice in bad matchups, but I think I definitely need to push an alt to a high level in order to cover my bases. In the tourney When Justin had to fight Dieminion’s Guile he switched to Adon instead of Rufus and won.

All around I had a kickass time though, I’ll have to post some pics later. Fighting Justin seriously offered me real clarity I think.
