Has DOA:U changed the way Fighting game matching should be done?

Ok maybe it is because I am new to live but I have to say I like the way the room are set up for DOA:U. It just feels more fun. I was playing Guilty Gear 2X before and while the one to one match was fun for a while it got very boring fighting the same guy over and over. Having to exit the room and find a new opponent is annoying as hell.

By contrast DOA:U matching feels like going to the arcade and slapping a quarter on the machine and waiting for your next turn. This is by far a more enjoyable mode of on-line play.

So now I pose this question to the masses here at SRK. Should all fighters from here on out use this method of matching? (or are there any other live fighters that do this now?)

Hell yeah they should!

Team Ninja = the best developer on Xbox

DOA:U is easily the best fighting game online experience.

Even though SF3:3S is a superior game, the matchmaking and handling of the live portion makes DOA:U much more fun.

The built in tournament system is much better than the ghetto IRC tournaments that we have to do with capcom fighters.

Does anyone know if SF:AC uses this type of matching system?

fuck capcom lazy fucking pricks.

they make good games though heh.

No it does not. SF:AC uses the same matchmaking system that CvS2 uses.

In fact, when it displays what you are playing, it says that you are playing Anniversary Collection and doesn’t distinguish between AE and 3S. I’ve already run into the problem of playing 3S and inviting someone on my friends list that is playing AE and us both not aware of why we can’t join each other until I called them up on the phone to find out if they were playing AE or 3S.

:lame:

I agree! Capcom better get with the times.

Personally I think that all Fighters form here on out should have the rotating Arcade style matching. I find it a lot more fun than just sitting one on one all the time. Hopefully Capcom USA will take a cue from this and add this to the US version of SF:AC but I doubt it. Maybe SNK will with KOF 2002/2003 we can only hope.

Dragon sama:
you still selling 3rd strike?

Who cares if the DOAU online interface is good when the actual game is a steaming pile of scrubby shit. DOAU = lame. Team ninja suck

Because some people, myself included, play DOA at all because of the online experience. A game can have the most skilled engine ever, but if the online play is lacking, it’s going to hurt it’s chances in the US (VF comes to mind). Supporting DOA makes it obvious to other companies that they are doing at least one part of the equation correctly, and that they need to recognize that.

…and the scrub excuses continue   :lame:

Not much point going into the reasons why doa is retarded because its been said time and time again on the srk boards. You just have to compare this games to something like sc2, vf4, t5 or TTT to know how bad it sucks as a 3d fighter. The doa fanbase is a tragic case of silly fanbois who talk about nothing but the girls, its really sad.

Most the team ninja fanbois are just xbox fanbois in general, gotta love the jaded fanbois. I still see idiots argue that doa is better then vf4 etc. haha, funny old world. Good online interface or not, the game still sucks

yeah thats the point, im not going to pay 50 dollars to play a game for its online options if the game itself sucks anyways.

Well I never said that DOA:U was greatest game ever. What I did say was the on-line matching system is brilliant. And I really hope that more Fighters use this type of matching in the future. It just makes playing on-line a lot more fun IMHO

Yea I can’t lie, DOA does have a great online system. When I play cvs2 or third strike online it gets so…BORING. Only a few people talk, and it’s all silent. In DOA, everyone is talking shit and watching the fight. You get to see new things and shit and everone is interactive with the fight. Someone does a move with alot of damage and everyone is like “OOOOOOhhhh did you see that???” this game is fun online.

Suavion:

I’d be glad to have a conversation with you, but I wasn’t aware that you had a mic. I’d like to ask many questions in 3rd Strike when we play. Perhaps we could exchange ideas of fighting styles and whatnot; topics such as common mistakes that we do, to the “good job” remarks on what we do right. I do understand alot of players are really silent when you play them in 3rd Strike. I’ve come across many who just have their mic on, I hear them tapping the buttons but alas, they do not speak what so ever. At times I will try to start a conversation if I think they have a mic and can hear me, none have yet to reply.

On a different note, I’ve played Dead or Alive online and it is a very fun game indeed, the trash talk is very entertaining at most times and when they do the whole “awwe-OOOH OWNED” in shock scene it is quite great to know that some one is actually amused by your moves if you manage to pull of a unthinkable counter.

In the near future, if you do manage to come across me in 3rd Strike, do not be intimidated by keeping to yourself, I wouldn’t care if we had a mindless conversation and babble about various topics. It only makes the gameplay more enjoyable. That is one of the many perks of online play. Do you not agree? Until next time.

Later,

DOAU online is excellent. The ONLY reason i play the game is because i can get instant competition on a fighting game. anyone who thinks that there is no substance to his game, quite simply doesn’t understand it, and should not pass judgement. i am not saying that this game takes skill (minor skill involving pressing buttons in a sequence), but it DOES take mind games. mind games is the reason that i got addicted to 3s (although 3s takes skill and thought). 3s online sucks ass. Playing 3s online is like spraypainting the mona lisa. you can get perfect games of DOAU, you CANNOT get perfect games of 3s. anyone who says that they have had perfect games of 3s is smoking weed. now please share with me! DOAU is a FAR better experience online than ANY SF game. although SF is heads and shoulders above DOA as far as gameplay is concerned. too bad sf sucks online.

DOA may not be the deepest fighting game ever, but it’s still pretty fun to play. And i agree, all fighting games should be set up in the same manner. I have to wait for so long just to find someone to fight in GGX#R on live

I always have to wait for oppponets in GG2X#Reload, CVS2, and SVC. DOA:U does not have that problem you get in a room and go and you get toe fight more than one person at a time. It is just a lot more fun that way.
