i suppose meditating on something specific about the game could help. it can clear your mind of non 3s stuff and help u focus on the match better. too lazy to try though.
Meditation is the practice of maintaining a relaxed but complete focus while breathing evenly and deeply. Of course it could help with 3rd Strike, or any other activity.
If any of you can’t stand to sit still in the moment like that for a block of time then you could probably really use some meditation.
Life has its up’s and down’s. Meditation has been the single most important tool for me when it comes to dealing with the rollercoaster ride that life is - it keeps me floating during lesser good times, lets me enjoy the blessings of good times easier and more often. My ability to focus on certain tasks or objects (zoom in) as well as seeing things in a greater perspective (zoom out) gets better all the time, and there’s no question that my daily 10 min meditation routine before breakfast plays a huge part in this.
As for 3s it certainly has made me understand and appreciate the game more, I’m not sure about being alot better nowadays, but in general I most definitively have more fun.
I didn’t want to bump this thread but you know meditation is proven to help in many aspects of ones life. Many top CEO’s of big corporations for example meditate
also Phil Jackson who the coach/manager who lead the Bulls team with Jordan and the Lakers team with Kobe and Shaq made both his teams and himself meditate to help them focus on their tasks. Both teams with 3 championships in 3 consecutive years. The list can go on.
Meditation is a great way to clear your mind and focus on what you want to achieve in life. So don’t be so quick to mock it.
I do meditate but I can tell you right now it’s not substitute for exposure or experience. A lot of the guys on here are still in that whole low forward phase 3s players tend to get stuck in at about the 3 year mark.
What I wrote only sounds like it’s mocking because of how crazy it sounds. I guess that was my intent too.
I meditate before matches, sure, just like most players use that moment to hype themselves up but I don’t do it in some mindless effort to somehow have my brain trigger and wire itself appropriately. No, I meditate in order to be able to move back into a more serene state that doesn’t negate it’s surroundings. Instead it looks to stand within the environment and let it soak, while I’m doing something else.
There are inherent problems with that, not intrinsic but inherent, and one of the many problems actually comes with this new hype beast culture that the new gen games have brought with them. That’s the truft my niggah.
I don’t think anyone uses it as a substitute for experience, just like you wouldn’t use it in place of something that demands knowledge of movement such as basketball or what not. Just like you said, it is something to enhance the mind and make it stronger as an addition to what has already been learned.
Depends on your approach. Some would argue that meditation increases mental fortitude and hardiness (akin to constitution, I guess; D&D players please help me with the terms), which affects your ability to play.
Mental control is just as important as your ability to execute your game plan. If meditation bolsters your mental control then it’s definitely a tool you can use to become better.
Of course, this also means that the player them self must see the benefit of meditation and commit to practicing it as far as training the mind goes.
Either way, again, Dander, I think we’re both showing different shades of the same approach yet again.
