Has anyone bought a desktop from Dell Refurbished UK?

I am looking at buying a refurbished Dell OptiPlex 9020 desktop from https://dellrefurbished.co.uk/desktop-computers

Has anyone bought from them? Are they good? Any help would be much appreciated.

This is a forum for tech related to fighting games, so since all of those run integrated intel graphics, no theyre all crap.

I’ve bought loads of refurbished stuff and never had a problem. I’ve a similar PC that runs from an AC adaptor like a laptop. It came with a 65W and I bought a 90W to power a GT730 GDDR5: https://www.ebuyer.com/736224-asus-nvidia-gt-730-2gb-low-profile-graphics-card-gt730-sl-2gd5-brk

The GDDR5 was the best compatible card for mine at the time (25W draw), and although it’s very low-end, it’s still much better than the GDDR3 version of the 730. Definitely avoid the latter, and also the ones with fans, as they’ve no speed control and make a horrible noise. And like I say, you really need a 90W adaptor if it comes with a 65. I paid £30 for mine, £70 for the card, and £100 for the PC.

If you only play fighting games you can get by on that, but for playing anything else I’d pay a bit more for a PC with a desktop PSU, and then fit a 1050 Ti or similar. I’m guessing the 1030’s the best current option for 90W Dells: https://www.ebuyer.com/791771-msi-nvidia-geforce-gt-1030-2gb-passive-lp-oc-graphics-card-gt-1030-2gh-lp-oc

Oh please.

LOL. Buying Refurbished systems don’t mean much, you just bought a used PC where the manufacture “fixed” it and polish it up and resold it.
And buying used means you inherit someone else’s problems if that manufacture didn’t fix it.

And of course the system would run fine, it will run fine till it doesen’t a PC don’t just slowly Droup off till it fails, its usually a sudden and abrupt.
I also had my share of repairing Dell computers, Desktops and Laptops. Dells isn’t work shit and I would never recommend anyone buying a Dell PC.
To tell you how bad Dells are, PC repair textbooks often comes with it’s own section just on Dell Computers.

The Machines the OP posted are good for Office work, where Word and Excell are the most heaviest workloads the PC would ever see, not much good for anything else.

Lenovo, and Asus are 2 brands that stand the test of time quite well. I’m using a 6 year old Asus that I bought originally as a gaming laptop but is now got faster ram and an SSD and used for uni work. Intels processors are the same for so many years just a a little faster with hyperthreading until ryzen was released

Nothing wrong with integrated graphics, as long as it’s at least modern. That’s what i use on my Pc. Besides web browsing, I can watch HD movies, netflix, and youtube all day long (haven’t tried 4k much though), and do pretty much anything else aside from modern gaming.

That’s all i need my PC for though. If i wanted a high-end machine, i’d buy one.

Edit: I can run Cuphead at least. Although i don’t know how much of a feat that is.

Integrated graphics is fine if all you do is Facebook and Netflix.
And integrated graphics is fine for office applications.

Anything else, its garbage. Especially Intel Integrated Graphics.

Spoiler

There is a reason why Intel is outsourcing the development and manufacturing of their next gen Integrated Graphics to AMD

Cuphead Requirements

Geforce 9600 GT and the AMD HD 3870
That was top of the line in 2008, it’s 2018.

A PC from ten years ago can run Cuphead fine.

Chiming in here since this is my realm of expertise.

If you buy a refurb system, double check the graphics card specs to make sure you can run stuff like Arcade Edition properly. Intel onboard graphics WILL NOT cut it, and YOU WILL have a bad time. Anything GPU-wise from the past couple of years will run any current-gen fighter at 1080p 60fps, max settings. The only problem with that right now is that if you are in the market for a GPU; due to cryptocurrency bs you’re gonna pay a markup if you want it right now. Since you’re in the UK, I’d recommend looking at NZXT’s BLD service and seeing if their pricing would be productive to you; including shipping.

I can also say that you should use pc part picker website when looking for a gpu, it won’t recommend one that won’t fit in your case, you don’t have enough power to run, but it also keeps tabs on the cheapest sites. Don’t be annoyed if you have to wait 10 days for a gpu restock if it means saving £200
