Happ Competition Joystick Diagonals problem (is there any fix?)

HI!

i have 2 happ competition joysticks for a customer… the thing is that it has e-switch microswitches and the diagonals have a very little range.

is there any fix for that? or should i get eurojoysticks?

also the click sound sucks :frowning:

Thanks

You can try searching for and replacing them with Cherries. Other than that, I have no idea.

You will get “click” sounds from every kind of microswitch.

The only options you have are:
[]Leaf switches (generally expensive, IIRC not as durable/long-lasting as microswitches)
[
]Optical stick (very expensive, requires more soldering)
Also, iL sticks are generally higher quality than Happ Comp, despite being 99% similar design.

On this subject: anyone know whatever happened with the thread that Mr. Happ himself made an appearance in?

i know that microswitches make that click sound, but this one is really annoying :S

will try to buy Cherry’s… but i’m from Chile :frowning: they will get here in a month lol

E-Switches would have a pretty bad diagonal range, because they actuate very low. The traditional cherries actuate in the middle, which makes it a bit easier to be able to hit the diagonals, since you have a bigger engage zone for each direction, which makes for a bigger intersection in the corners to hit the intersection.

happ comps seem to have that problem. some have diagonals with no problem and some do. i restored 7 old arcade cabs and replaced all the sticks. a bit less than half of them weren’t hitting diagonals. i tried putting cherry switches in and it fixed the problem on some of them, and not on others. bottom line…get IL eurosticks. they have cherrie switches by default and so far, i haven’t had one that didn’t hit diagonals.

I’d spend the extra money on IL Eurosticks just because Happ quality control is probably almost non-existent now. It’s $13 a replacement joystick vs $8 for replacement cherries.

yea mines is doing that as well for my sfac stick. where can i buy the leaf switches?
