Lan party would be interesting but I doubt I’ll be in Hamilton Friday night. Since I’m headed to UN on Saturday, I’ll probably have to spend some time with the wife on Friday night. I’ll see what I can do to bargain or something.
You’re not free at all Thursday? Probably the best day for me to go back to Hamilton now.
All this talk of UN and other crazy events and me without a car…i hate being a bum…i’ll jsut stick with my Cove competition  (no offense Rey and Vince).
If anyone knows where i can find match vids (prodominently with Urien) let me know. I need some inspiration for ground tactics with the guy who uses a “mirror to kill…MWAHAHAHA”
Hey guys. I read a few pages in this thread, but I didn’t see anything mentioning this: does McMaster University have an arcade with 3S? I’m considering going there, and it’d be nice if it does.
Okay guys. I’m going to EG on Saturday. I got a wedding Ceremony to go to before hand, so it’s gonna be kinda shitty. I’ll probably be there from like 3pm to 5pm. Cause I gotta get to the hall and start my drinking :P. But I would really like to get a chance to try my team on some real players. Not the PC in random block. Your appearances would be much appriciated.
As I’ve said before, there is no “exact” timing to doing unblockables, yes, even on the one at Mohawk, but that 3S doesn’t have unblockables anyway, so it’s moot anyhow.
The reason why the dummy in training mode (PS2) blocks all unblockable setups is because the dummy’s “Guard Judgement” is always set to “New”, kind of like the DC version (except that ver. is entirely void of unblockables, unlike the PS2 ver. where you have the option to play w/ or without unblockables).
Which is stupid (PS2 version) because you can’t test your unblockable setups on the dummy, you have to practice it on the CPU or against human players.
And that brings up the point about CPU opponents, why is it that I can do unblockables against the CPU on PS2 (which is based on the original arcade system board), huh?
You can’t do it against them at Mohawk because they know how to block it (since the game has no unblockables), just like we can, too (if we know how to block it).
Apparently, Rey blocked in every direction but the correct direction, and that’s why he got hit by it:
the shit I said aboot blocking low, then blocking high, that only works if the Knee-drop hits later than it normally would.
But if that’s the case, you can probably just block high the whole time…I may be wrong, though.
if when the Knee-drop hits simultaneously (or almost simultaneously) w/ the Aegis as you’re getting up, block (forward direction) toward the direction of the Aegis (the opposite direction), you’ll block the first few hits of the Aegis/Knee-drop, then quickly change the direction to “back” and you’ll block the rest of the hits.
eh, that sounded a wee bit confusing, in short: hold ->, than hold <-, you’re guaranteed to block it all, and that’s how the CPU is able to do it.
Man, I deserve a real chocolate-chip-mixed-with-almond-baked-fresh-out-of-the-oven-cookie for this shit.
?
Huh? There’s an easier way to do Chun’s c.mk > super?
Do you mean buffering the motion as you hit the mk button (since you’re already in the “down” position, just d/f, f direction right after), then if it hits, do another qcf motion and hit kick…is that what you mean?
And it’s not a link, btw (contrary to what everyone else said), it’s a really (really) late super-cancel which looks like it’s a link.
But her back + fierce move is a link.
I mean, you can cancel it, but you can also link it.
She’s cheese, but I enjoy playing her…kara-throw that shit!
What time exactly?
I wasn’t planning to go, but if it’s between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM, I will head down there.
I’ll try to burn you a CD of all the Urien videos that I have.
It’s not much, but I think it’s enough.
I got a few matches of Tokido’s Urien at Evo2k2, owning up all the top US players that was there…and total rapage against Justin Wong’s Chun-Li (poor fellow), you need to check those shit out.
I also have this 3 on 3 match vid that has Tokido’s Urien against another Japanese Urien, even though Tokido lost, it was, like, one of the greatest matches ever.
Plus some RX match vids (I need more matches of this god, though) and a bunch of his combo vids w/ different (guaranteed) Aegis unblockable setups against each of the 3S characters.
His stuff are the best (although complicated), and it does help your game out a bit.
All in all, Japanese Urien > US Urien.
I still haven’t seen all the videos that I have, so give me, like, a few days or so, and after I’ve seen everything…I’ll compile a collection of all the Urien vids (that I think you haven’t seen, yet) I have, and then hand it to you, alright?
I’ll go if I have the car.
Haven’t been there in ages, so we’ll see.
Ouch, without me there, Rey’s just eating fools up like an obese kid without food for a day.
Ah, I see how you did the motion, exactly what I’ve said above, except I don’t drum the buttons.
Drumming the easy stuff into super is more trouble than it’s worth, I think.
But, whatever works, I guess.
Nam… this is liek the 135624634643 post you’ve put up about those damn unblockables… nobody cares whether or not they work… if you can’t block it… and get hit by it… thats the proof… it’s unblockable cuz whoever gets hit by it is a goof… in the end… nobody cares… cuz it’s just a game…
and yeah… getting owned by Rey’s chun is ok… i dont’ care… i just play for whatever now… besides… CVS2 is way more fun.
RXS
P.S. may drop by EG this weekend to test out the new team
I agree what what your saying bro, but the fact still remains that they do work on the arcade at mohawk. BUt there is so much more potential now after i look at it for the Aegis.
Instead of going for unblokcables (unless your a sucker and got caught in a throw setup in the corner) I try and go for UNAVOIDABLE DAMAGE SETUPS. It takes to much effort to put somone into a postion that requires god forsaken timing and orientation so whay not just do less damage but make it guarenteed.
For example i love this setup:
Parry xx EX headbutt, lp BALL xx (fierce or Medium aegis, cant remeber which one) RH crush, aegis bounce, then some crazy juggle shit.
So im gonan give up on the UNB setups unless they make them selves very apparent.
Not gonna come back to Hamilton tomorrow or Friday now since I’m not sure if I’m up to make the trip just to go to Mac for a bit. I may think about going to the LAN party Friday assuming that’s not just for Mohawk students and if Rey decides to go…that’s doubtful though since I’ll probably be doing something with B
I’ll say for sure tomorrow. Either way, I’ll make some kind of trip back to Hamilton sometime soon assuming I can at least hook up with some of Hammer or whatever.
oh even though there is no PS2 there… i will try to load you guys a copy of Melty Blood REACT… try it out… it’s a pretty fun fighting game from Japan on PC
Apparently, you care enough to make a post aboot it, heh.
And no, blocking Urien’s command kick is proof that there is none.
Um…yea…moving along…
Wow, do you think you’re cooler now for saying that?
This is a gaming site, people are here to discuss games, whether it’s the technical details, aesthetic details or whatever…and there’s nothing wrong with that.
Not learning from losses + predictability = more losses…
Damn you, you’re not reading the stuff I wrote.
I explained everything, yet, you, still, haven’t…
Guess I need to show you in person, as they say, seeing is believing.
If you’re free for a bit on Sunday, call me up and I’ll show you how to block all of it on the PS2.
Parry into EX headbutt?
That’s a bit to much after a parry, is it not?
Seeing as how you need to charge, then parry, then move the stick to up, then press 3 buttons…too much just to start off a juggle.
Why don’t you just cr. hp to start the juggle?
And I don’t think you can juggle them again afterwards, by the time you recover from the RH crush, wouldn’t the opponent be on the floor by then?
I know, because I’ve done the same setup before, except w/ mp ball.
Yes, Urien is not all about unblockables, it’s also about the shoulder crush into pseudo Aegis traps, random mp ball into Aegis, anti-air ball and EX Aegis to prevent people from jumping, all for the purpose of pushing/making them back up into the corner.
Once they’re cornered, bring out an Aegis and the high and low games begin, if you hit them and do everything right, elbow for the launch and the fun juggle begins…etc…etc…then they die…
The crush is supposed to whiff and the Knee drop puts you on the other side for break setup.
I downloaded that 400 meg video from combovideos and let me tell you EXCELLENT URIEN PLAYIGN on there the guy Duane who is playign him is beasting mwahah and showe dme some good tips on basic urien play style and setup tactics. MWAHAHAHA
Pseudo!! F that!! Aegis traps own of connected crush MWAHAHA love it!! Althought i think those peopel sometimes i really dumb in the matches. Well on 2 occasions only really they just dont block… like they arent blokcing the Aegis at all when they get up and Urien is liek a Mile away. IMO thats asking for a beat down.
