Hamilton Feb 2 Double O 5

There’s a cash tourney at Orbit March 5th if you can make it though it’ll be tough competition.

And you could always challenge people to money matches.

 You just managed to describe Marvel to a tee.

I didn’t get a chance to speak on this earlier but I thought it best to do so now. For all of Hamilton’s talk about 3rd Strike, I found the skill level to be far below what I thought it’d be. I don’t play 3rd Strike in the slightest. I mean I haven’t touched the game literally in four months. Somehow I come 4th in this tournament. Now first I beat John, which is no big thing because he doesn’t play the game either. Then I lose to Teddy (no surprise) and then I beat Vince 2 - 0.

Now here’s the thing that really bugs me. If all you guys are as good at 3S and play it as much as you say you do, why in the world is my shitty Akuma beating Vince and pushing Ike to the brink of death in more than one occasion? I mean seriously, what are you guys doing in all of these casual matches? Is anyone learning anything at all?

I’m not trying to stir up shit, I’m trying to figure out how a group of players who play as often as you do can be so mediocre. This is an open discussion, please don’t be upset over my post. It’s constructive criticism and I’m looking out for the welfare of your community.

nope lol justin we know we suck… well most of us do (minus buttons are broken) There’s just not enough high level competition… as a matter of fact… there’s just not much learning going on in Hamilton peopel just play… and never get much better…

I haven’t touched 3S in training since the december Orbits tourney… even though i entered York… i haven’t touched the game since… i’ve been too busy playing MArvel and CVS2…

If you’ve got any suggestions on how to improve our scene… go ahead.

RXS

Stop losing to people who don’t play.

couldnt agree more that us hamilton guys suck balls heh, i wanna make a trip down to mac and see whats up with their competition. the downside with mohawk players is almost all of us play ken, ryu, akuma. ill admit im still learning the fine tune of them and how to properly play vs them but we need some variety. I played Ike’s urien last week and got smoked 3-0 when i thought i had improved enough to beat him(boy was i wrong). problem is i think is theres noone around to actually give pointers. i dunno its late and this post is prolly on the brink of babbeling so ill leave it at this

I’ve learned plenty in games. From the first time i play my cvs2 has gotten much better, and im MVC2 i learned how to push block and tech roll so im getting there. Also learned how to make the cable guard break 50/50. IF anyone knows a way to stop it besides not dieing i would appreciate teh advice.

Look at justin stirring shit up. that bastard.

Actually I’m leaving work at 7:30pm on Friday. So let’s hook up for food first, then go and get Jim for some games.

Lol, Curt you’re an asshole! Stirring shit like that. The way that I see it, just let them talk their talk. Because playing SF in tourney matches is really about walking the walk. If Hamilton would dedicate as much time to training as they did to talking shit to each other. We might actually get some respect as a unit.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not being high and mighty here. But I do know where I stand with my skill level. And that’s somewhere between shit and absolute garbage. But I know for a fact that I’m willing to take any advice that someone is giving me to improve my game and try to use it. I guess that I’m trying to say that maybe we should try to help each other out instead of putting the other guys down.

Best advice I can give you: GET IN A CAR AND GET AWAY FROM MOHAWK! I would honestly suggest the 3S players NEVER play at Mohawk and only played at other arcades because it’s obvious you’re learning NOTHING from each other. No player has ever gotten better playing the same people in the same arcade every single day. If you want to improve (and I mean really improve) you have to play other people. If you are all serious about playing 3S and you know McMaster is better, make the 20 minutes or 1/2 hour drive to their campus and throw down with their 3S players ON A REGULAR BASIS. It’s not like it’s a big excursion like when you get step out to York U or ORBIT, these guys are just a quick car ride away.

!

You have no idea the irony of what you just said.
I don’t know if you were referring to 3S or MvC2…?

Don’t diss 3S, fool, just 'cause you don’t know how to play the game doesn’t make it less strategic than the other games.

And Justin is 100% right.
I was down at Mohawk a couple of times last week to check out MvC2, and their 3S skills are worst than what I have seen months past.
I mean, they got progressively worst as time go by.
It’s frightening.

Dave, if you wanted folks to teach you, you should’ve ask.
Well, here’s some advices:
Ditch Ken’s SA1 or SA2 or whatever the fuck you use (I’m suprised no one said anything aboot this earlier, is Rey THAT sick? Hehe).
Learn all his links, cancels, hit confirmations that combos into his SA3 (THE super to use for Ken players).
Dash frequently (shotos have very good dashes), use his air-ex-hurricane move thingie for air to air battles, or to escape from danger, etc…

Here are a few of his many moves that can easily combo into his SA3:
short, short, short > super (hit-confirmable, quick, and is great to use after a dash), c.mp > super (hit-confirmable, nice priority, you are not a Ken player if you don’t use this move), his target (mp, hp) > super (add a hadoken in there, if you wish, cancel that hadoken into super and you have the easiest hit confirmation in the entire motherfucking game) and c.mk > super (very difficult to hit-confirm off of, but hits low and has nice range, the combo of choice for scrub Kens).

There are still many more he can do, like command overhead/universal overhead into super and other mixups and stuff.
Oh yeah, his standing forward is a very deceptive move, it whiffs on most crouching characters, but it’s fast and moves you forward so it’s a great move to use for rushing down and continuing pressure on your opponents.
For example: short, short on an opponent’s wakeup, if that doesn’t hit (don’t cancel into super, obviously), standing forward that shit and continue pressure…very nice.
Daigo “the Ken master” often uses the standing forward to close in on his opponents, so remember that shit.

Ike, I have MvC2 now (PS2, hey, it’s better than nothing…), with all the characters uncocked, uh…I mean, unlocked, so whenever you’re free and want to play the game, or want to simply pass some time, gimme a call.
wink wink

That’s all for now.

you know what i would use SA3 with ken but i like using the oddball shit that noone would use. come on i played Elena for a week for gods sake wtf is that. actualyl didnt to bad with her at times but just gave up cause i sucked :stuck_out_tongue:

lol i went to Mac one day… and beasted everyone… they are better than Mohawk for sure… but i guess that still warrants me to go down and play… i mean… if there was anything better to play than 3S at Mac… if only they had that XvSF machine someone said they were supposed to have… i would go down there more often…

RXS

For some reason, I don’t think that you beasted everyone.

I don’t think people should be looking at mohawk cove as a place to improve their SF game at all…out of everybody there…maybe only 5 people at the most is actually willing to learn how to play competitively…the rest of the people that are labeled “scrubs” just play it…I don’t really think the rest of them are actually trying to learn how to play at a tournament level and they just play for fun

nam>>ps2 mvc2 is good to kinda learn things on…but I know there’s major differences than the arcade/DC versions…

lol you’d be surprised… that day i was down for busking fest… i REALLY DID beast everyone… i was surprised also… Vanny your an ass … LOL…

RXS

Im not around this weekend so i can’t make it to any gaming or UN(is there UN this weekend?). Next friday i’ve got a concert to go to(Taste of Chaos  ). So no gaming then either. Not sure if i can make it for the March 5th tourney but i would like some practice just incase i do go. Someone set that shit up. We can have it at my place if you want but i only have a dc with no sticks and no games. :karate:

i’m down for whatever you want to arrange… lol i been busy playing arcade games to care about anything else during the day righ tnow… beat AVP with Kevin (Dogberry) last night and we’re contemplating busting up Final Fight tonight. hehe… today i made my come back to Shoot em ups… holy shit… some of that crap is insane :expressionless: i never seen so many killer pink and blue dots in my life.

Sounds good. Jim doesn’t need food anyways, he can starve. Where we all gonna meet then?

Your Ken tips are pretty much spot on. Just forgot to add that Ken’s jumping mk is the best crossup possibly in any SF game.

Though IMO, the scrub combo of choice is actually the mp, hp, hadoken, super. That combo makes me sick really and is easy as shit. My one year old niece or nephew could hit that combo. c.mk > super is a bit more risky in that if you guess wrong you’re in trouble.

Nobody in Mohawk even attempts to use the mp, hp chain and they really should. So Dave, next time you play Ken, experiment with that shit and see what you can do with it. Seriously just abuse the hell out of it whenever you’re close.

Then again, I hate 3S Ken, why am I talking about this?

CAUSE YOU SUCK

I might not be able to eat out that nights…but i’ll meet up after for sure
