Yea it’s not illegal to flash the systems, or put another OS on a PS3. I have a Fat that still has Other OS on it and I could do that if I want, but it’s Sony’s discretion to not let you use their online network. Part of agreeing to use their network is to have other OS removed from your system through the update.
