I love Halo. Even when a lot of people swtiched over to Mdern Warfare multiplayer, I stayed with the Halo series. (Up until now, I’m on the MW2 bandwagon.) However, for some reason, I’m very anxious about this game. I could just see this being massively bad. It’s probably just me, I hate change.
I welcome the change. I always felt that they’ve been lazy these past games by making them so similar, adding weapons and maps doesn’t make the game new. This may actually be the first game I buy on release day in a while and I’m trying to get ODST to play that beta and make sure.
Like I said, it’s probably me. Because I certainly had my gripes with Halo 3 by the time I finally stopped playing it. I’d certainly like to see it speed up a bit; and the addition of a CoD style kill cam to prevent the incessant camping that goes on (My biggest gripe about Halo generally is the ease with which one can get to places on the map one “Shouldn’t be able to get to” and set up shop with a sniper rifle.); and from reading the last article, I think some of the weapon changes are long overdue…who used SMG’s anyway…but I just don’t know. Jet packs and shit??? I don’t know…I’ll be continually lurking the thread for info though. I had ODST, but I sold it back (forgot about the beta invite); hopefully, you just need to have ODST data on your hard drive so I can play it.
Edit: Just checked, yup, you need the ODST disc. Oh well. I’M COUNTING ON YOU MCGINNIS!!!
Doubt it on the data thing. I’m guessing it’ll work like crackdown where you needed the game disc in to log in to it.
There could be a lot of broken things in this game but hopefully the beta will help them fine tune stuff. The jet pack for one shouldn’t be infinite, it should either run out of fuel or you can only go so high.
I’ll wait for the beta to see how things go. I played the original Halo3 beta and immediately didn’t like it so this should give me an indication about the actual game. (I still played Halo3 for a while due to friends playing it.)
Jet pack is like the armour ability only works for a period of time before needing to be recharged, they also mentioned it being part of a AR load out.
The jetpack is the new Grav-Lift, simple as that. Bungie aren’t stupid enough to have Rocketeer deathmatches (hmmmm). It’s funny people are so quick to assume craziness from, in my opinion, the developers of the best FPS of the last decade.
I love the Halo universe but I’ll never get over how weak the human weapons are. By that time in human development all the weapons should be variants of the Spartan Laser. I’d be pissed as hell if someone gave me the DMR in 2010 and told me it was bad ass. “Mofo, I bought a heart beat sensor attached to a tech 9 at the swap meet last week. Nigga please.”
Anyway, I’m intrigued by this new game and will be playing the beta but I’m not a huge fan of the Elite bad-assery bump. To me the Elites should always be on par with a Spartan and the Brutes are supposed to be (strength wise) better than Elites and Spartans. I’ll try to pretend that these elites are non-canon or some shit.
I never liked the gorillas. To me the brutes are the most retarded looking characters ever.
I’ll definitely post my two cents about the beta if I have it though. Been trying to get odst in a trade.
Covenant have more advanced technology than the humans. Elites are very similar to the Spartan II’s, however in Reach you play as Spartan III’s which are more of your mass production brand of Spartan thus not as good. The only S2 in Reach is Jorge the guy that handles the heavy machinery, if you compare him to the other Spartans he is huge.
I’ve been waiting for almost 10 years for them to mention Kelly, Sam, Fred…ANY of the other spartans that John (Master Chief) went on missions with in the book.
Doubt it. One can hope.
K, now it all makes sense. Thank you for clearing that up. So they rank goes… Spartan II > Spartan III > ODST > Marine.
“I’m excited to see how it turns out, I’m really excited…but…I dunno whatever, every game you think you’re doing the right thing and then it turns out you fucked something up.”
Hahaha man I love Bungie.
This game is gonna be a epic for the ages. Why would they mention any character other then john after all this time?
Because it’s about Reach. So technically, “all this time” hasn’t happened yet.
Sorry dude, this game is not about the other Spartan II’s. Read the Gameinformer.com preview. Bungie already explained who the characters are in this game. I’m too lazy to link you to the page, but in summary - this happens after Master chief has left Reach, and these characters are Spartan III’s. They’re cheaper to produce than Spartan II, and are used as kind of a “fire and forget” type of soldier. Basically, you’re the new guy put into this group of Spartan III’s (and one Spartan II named Jorge) and you play through with this group.
I’m reading the Fall of Reach book right now, and yeah, it’s kinda sad that this game and the book are not the same. I still don’t see why they couldn’t include a young John 117 in this game. It’s not like it throws off the continuity.
Can’t believe Reach Beta is less than 1 month away now.
Last week’s Bungie Weekly Update.
bunch of nice info in there about some mechanical changes and the weapons.
When the Beta drops, Im making it a top priority to break it.
I really want to love Halo again.
True, I expect MC to be making a cameo appearance because the voice actor who does MC has apparently been in the studio recording. I’m hoping the final mission or something is lead by MC
I’m also reading Reach, the story has me totally hooked, I do not understand how Universal or WB didn’t go forward and make the movie, and why MS didn’t go it alone
