this may be dumb question but i seem to have a problem with mirror matches. It seems the more aggressive hakumen wins in mirror matches because i cant play my passive game against these very aggressive counterparts.
what would you guys suggest?

wait for them to jump in (and don’t do it yourself) and bait C’s. Punish!
It works at my level at least…
for me it works either way. I tend to be more aggressive well sort of. I push forward but still wait for the other hakumen to attack. Then I wait for a good frame window. You can always wait cuz they will throw something out that can be punished
I think it’s because while the frame data says 623A has upper body invincibility throughout the entire move the invincibility actually varies. Like at the start of the move it’s upper body then a bit into it, the invincibility goes lower. Then towards the end it moves back up.
A easy way to test this is when Jin does a 236A/B/C you can 623A through it. However when he does it meaty and you try to reversal 623A through it you will get hit.
Also if you 623A so that you stop in the middle of a 236A/B/C you will also get hit. Though this is pretty hard to time, so it’s not really something that will happen too often.
I know you can’t 6A her ground pokes, I meant her air attacks with 6A, they ALWAYS beat me out. I didn’t know the anti-head frames for 6A started on f3 though, that makes sense now.
Thanks for the 623A tip, but about the anti-air thing, her staff AA where she crouches down and stabs it upward(not her DP) stuffs anything I do air-to-ground, am I just missing something?
Yeah I’m trying to use them but it’s hard cause it just gets me punished alot. My reactionary ability is absolutely horrendous so I can really only do it when I expect something to happen. I just guess wrong alot =/
She has bad anti-air, but that doesn’t mean you get free jump-ins. It’s like any other game, setup your jumps. Jump over a whiff, or meaty your jumps. You also have a double jump, though I forget if she has time to recover and do it again. You can try it out in training mode. And there’s always drive-counters (or more blocking).
whoa. sorry if this is common knowledge but…
does throw -> 236a -> 6c not work on ragna? I’ve had it work like once out of a bazillion times (was practicing 2c stuff with ragna) and i just noticed it…
Well, if you had it work ONCE, then chances are, it’ll work again. Try charging it, or walking a step or two before you 6C.
just wait a half a moment before you do it. You should actaully do this to almost all the characters anyway since for alot of them, if you do 632146C after doing 6C ASAP, the super will just miss.
Ooh this is working…
Thanks!
Btw on a side note… I"m just wondering if you haku-men users play online, what are your levels? I just kind of wanna gauge levels a bit (even if it’s fallible at times)
and i’m curious o_o
EDIT: okay this has been bothering me FOREVER. Just HOW are you supposed to block Jin’s shoryukens? I SWEAR im’ holding back but i get hit anyways and it costs me the round and match T_T
and this happens half the time. Half the time i’ll block and half the time ill be hit. and this is just jumping in the air, no air dashing, just jumping D:
i just hit 26 today started playing on xbl hmm maybe a week ago. It found it easy to get to 20 but then 20+ sooo sloow lol
His DP’s are air unblockable UNLESS you either barrier block(back+A+B) or instant block(block JUST before an attack hits, you’ll flash white if you instant block successfully). IBing is the better option if you can do it reliably since it lowers your blockstun considerably
There are many attacks in the game that are air unblockable like that btw.
That clears a lot of stuff up. Thank you ^^
level doesn’t mean shit
this is tru lol ive gotten beat by some lev 1s and crushed alot of high levs lol
you can always just FD IB if you think you might have trouble with that lolol
well yeah, that too.
I just want to say that 4r5 is the Hakumen hero. his insight really has leveled my game up. I’d buy this man a beer.
I guess we need somekind of guide or video to improve Hakumen’s Drive…
What i mean is, his D is not that easy to use, its ok for normal moves but when it comes to pryectiles the timing required for the D to succes its sometimes weird… (the same can be said for the timing required for a successful parried normal move).
So who can help me to make a list of the move that Hakumen CANT (cause i think that those would be less in number, compared to the number of moves that he can parry) parry… ???
Only thing he can’t parry is grabs, anything else is fair game. Remember that his 5D doesn’t not have instant counter frames, starts around frame 7 I think, but is active for a decent amount of time. 6D and 2C are instant counters, but aren’t actice very long. jD also starts instantly and is not active for very long.
5D/6D counters overheads/highs/mids, while 2D counters mids/lows. for jD it doesn’t matter
