Agreed. Though the non-Hakan matches were fun as well.

Only one Hakan match in the last two videos
^That first vid with the Hakan was interesting. He/she seemed to do a lot more safe(?) slides into 360s/720s. I liked him/her nonetheless. =]
Some matches featuring some Ultra 1 usage. Was kind of inspired by some of the recent Japanese Hakan footage. Thanx again Liltre18 :wgrin:
Hakan Mirror Match

Hakan vs. Ryu (air grabbing the tatsu? Yeah that happened )

Once again enjoy your weekend guys.
Good stuff, Longshot. Always happy to watch your videos. What I like the most from you is how you use Hakan’s jap strong links. I need to try them out myself. I’m all theory fighter, no experience sometimes. =P
Good job longshot, I like your Hakan and most importantly your use of his jab links.
If I could give you one suggestion, especially for the vs Ryu matchup, is to wait out and bait those fireballs more often. It seems like you really wanted to get those slides out and because of that you were eating several free fireballs per round. Try throwing out that coward crouch, most fireball spammers quit once they understand they can’t get you. You can also focus absorb a couple of them, most of the time this causes them to throw an ex fireball, which you should CC or if oiled EX Slide.
I really need to use those links more like you do! : )
wow Longshot did I see j.HP cross-up Hakan ?? Must have counter-hit something but it didn’t even say that it did and I saw no limb come out either… another example of this game’s nonsense hit detection like Guy’s j.MP elbow counterhitting backwards also.
And awesome attempt at tick 720 in the Ryu match. I was practicing that the other day. so hard.
You should turn on inputs so we can see what the other player was doing, or not doing to get caught or hit by Hakan’s moves. Like when you do EX Rocket, if the other player was just sitting there expecting to block, or if it actually countered a c.LP etc.
@Colino - Yeah I’m cutting down on those random slides for sure. Taking way too much free damage. Trying to tighten up my approach overall so I don’t constantly find myself fighting an uphill battle in almost every match. I also discovered some new DNC techniques that may open up some more AA options along with ways to close the gap and apply some quick pressure a bit more effectively. Hopefully I’ll be able to put them to some good use in upcoming matches.
@Metro - I was just as surprised by that crossup fierce as much as you were. For a split second I wasn’t exactly sure what to do next so I just neutral jumped into a RH and went for a B&B link combo. Ticking the 720 off of low short, while tricky, is probably not worth the effort due to how easy it is to avoid. I was lucky not to get punished too badly after whiffing the attempt.
As for the EX Rocket in the Ryu match (assuming that’s what you were referring to), I’m pretty sure he was just blocking. I’ve been eating plenty of neutral jump combos lately trying to set that up so it was a bit of a risk but I figured he wasn’t expecting it at that point in time. One adjustment I made was going for the air grab immediately after the short oil in anticipation of the neutral jump which in turn opens up Hakan’s other options for the next knock down. I’ll be sure to turn on the inputs for future uploads despite my less than precise execution. :nunchuck:
More Hakan

Great vids as always, Liltre18. I love that green Hakan player. =]
I find it hard to believe that this wasn’t posted in here of all placed yet:
Shoryuken - We Love Hakan!
Possibly the first and last Hakan tribute video EVER (until SSF4T, when Hakan is tweaked into top tier and everyone picks him up.)
It may not help you win with him, but it may reinforced your dedication to him.
Aaay, folks. 'Just wanted to post some of my newest Hakan vids:
Me vs Ryu:

Not a lot to say. His jump ins were somewhat hard for me to deal with. I shouda just slipped under him with a command normal.
Me vs Viper:

The first Viper I played against on Live. Not much else to comment besides that.
Me vs Gief(1 of 2):

Gah. Gief’s a tough matchup. Sorry for the very slow pacing.
Me vs Gief(2 of 2)

Another match vs the same Gief player. Again, forgive the slow pacing. I’m uh…slow and methodical.
Well, that’s about it. I’d like to say I’m getting better, and I think I am. That said, old habits do die hard. I need to stop sliding to gain distance and use some of the Hakan tactics that have been adapted by most players(meaty jump-ins, safe jump-ins, DDT setups, ect…).
Nice matches Ultimate. I feel yer pain with the damned slide/360 wonky input.
Ah yes Ryu/Ken and Akuma’s jump in fwd/RH’s are a real hassle. Even when I know they’re coming I still find myself eating them more times than I should. Best thing to do at that range is to try and time your neutral/back jumping fierce/RH/strong/short/air grab in anticipation of their jump in attempts. Also I’ve had some recent success when oiled up with DNC into fwd + standing short and even DNC into CH low jab into jab oil slide in order to deal with the inevitable follow up low short/jab/fwd/strong. Interesting use of early whiffed low RH into ex oil rocket, might have to borrow that one.
Nice job against Viper. The above strategy kind of applies to her as well. Oil slide FADC DNC works wonders as a way to close the gap quickly along with neutralizing seismo spam.
No need to apologize for pacing against the likes of Gief. That’s just the way it is with certain matchups (EHonda comes to mind). Props for the corner mixup in the second match. Some sick stuff there.
Good stuff, Ultimate. I hear ya on the 360 slides too, those suck.
And I definitely understand the Hakan vs Gief match-up. I personally have a lot of fun with it, but I feel it is even, in an odd way. I’d say that in the air you beat him, especially with j.mp to slide, but on the ground it is different. His 360s are huge, which we know, but they aren’t that hard to avoid. If we empty jump and make him lariat we can get free slides. Poke v poke, I don’t feel that one completely dominates the other. I’ve been feeling that Hakan’s s.hp is just really good at stuff a lot of things.
If any advice I could thrown in, you could possibly use those slide advantage (?) set-ups, where you 360p, slide, 720. They seem to work for me almost every time, unless I use the wrong strength slide, haha. And also, coward crouching on certain jump-ins, like the Ryu air tatsu, to EX SPD. =D
I’ve still got a ways to go myself, but I hope I’m helpful.
Saw this a couple of weeks ago. Some funny stuff. The one issue I had with the video though is how it insists on classifying Hakan as being a low tier character which IMV couldn’t be furthur from the truth. Now to be fair it was probably made before some of Hakan’s advanced techniques were ever discovered. However, despite what many to this day may still feel to be the case, I’m officially going on record to claim that Hakan is in no way, shape or form low tier by any means. While he may never achieve Rufus like status as it stands right now he is not as bad as first advertised. And I for one hope that Capcom never turns Hakan into a popular easy mode character because winning matches with him will be no where near as gratifying as they are now. Same goes for Makoto as well.
Some new matches for you guys:
Hakan vs. Gen

Tough loss due in large part to blowing some key opportunties to finish him off on several ocassions for one reason or another. Still a very good match against a solid player. Some serious lab work needed after this one.
Hakan vs. Juri (again)

It’s starting to reach Vanilla Ken levels in terms of how often I’m coming across Juri players online.
Hakan vs. T. Hawk

Much tougher match than it looks.
Hakan Mirror Match 3

Double “SERIOUSLY!?” FTW
Good stuff, Longshot. I like your use of f.mp a lot. Does it actually link after a s.lp/s.mp though? Or were you just throwing it out there like we all do with some meatier attacks, haha?
Datui vs Kiryu
ZU3WrD8lEJ8]YouTube - [SSF4
6P9O2dNjvHg]YouTube - [SSF4
Liltre posts more Hakan vids.
<3 <3 <3
That yellow alt Hakan user is now my other favorite Hakan besides the standard green Hakan player. Blocked c.hp into U1, haha.
RPGsFTW have to say this your avatar is amazing.
Thanks, Alcarion. Here’s the picture it’s from. http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/2803/1274323201974.jpg
Also, question to everyone. I was talking to a guy in the Rufus boards about safe jumping, and I was wondering if what Hakan does with slide + splash, whiff s.mp, j.hk was a safe jump?
