Hakan Video Thread: Ready for Action!

According to the hitboxc data:
4 frames of pre-jump when jumping towards
5 frames of pre-jump when jump straight up, or away

So technically, you have 5 frames in which to complete your U1 motion. When you think about it, all you’ll have to do is just a half-circle during those 5 frames. hcf, up, then another hcf (or hcb even) before he leaves the ground.

Easier said than done though.

Edit: I think it would actually be 4… gotta jump first.

video is already posted in this thread

In some of the japanese vids I seen they avoid oil like the plague. Is something wrong with oil? Or maybe they just find it really disgusting.:bgrin:

This is my crazy theory about the oil.

Try to oil up. But even when training with Hakan, I would spend most of my time learning how to fight without oil just from the stand point of fight momentum. Say you’ve got a good mixup going, why break it to oil and let them get their shit together. 2) If you are being rushed down so hard that you cannot oil up and you have not put in your time using unoiled hakan, just consider the match over. You’ll spend majority of your match thinking about oil and trying to oil up instead of just doing it if the opporinity shows naturally from using his unoiled normals and EX Rocket to break up a rushdown.

IMO, learning to play hakan at his worst will make being oiled just that much easier but you don’t want to be so comfy with using oiled hakan that unoiled is too difficult when you are forced to fight unoiled.

just my $.02

They probably don’t want to waste an opportunity to pressure their opponent on wakeup for a measly LK oil that lasts little more than a few seconds.

its 2 frames in some other SF then and thats what im thinking of. The extra 3 frames dont make it any less soul crushingly hard to do though.

I’d be inclined to agree with this theory based on the Japanese Hakan footage that I’ve seen so far. While I feel that they do pass up on one too many opportunities to oil up which IMO adds to his overall mixup game, I am on board with what appears to be the core Japanese philosophy associated with Hakan mastery at a high level. From my experience once I came to terms with the fact that Hakan did not play like a traditional grappler I focused more on his other attributes (potent ground game, effective anti air options, A to A dominance, meter whowa, etc.)to the point where I wasn’t overly dependent on oiling up in order to win. One of the reasons why I find Hakan’s character design to be so unique and why I find him so much fun to play.

Hakan vs. Cody 1 (Lack of experience against Cody results in yet another uphill battle)

Hakan vs. Cody 2 (Rematch with the same Cody to showcase some of the adjustments I made from the first encounter.)

Great vids, thanks! =D

Excellent use of coward crouch in the last match of the first video. Well done.
In the cody match of the second link, the Hakan player could have used Oil Slide against all of those neutral jumps.

Great videos! It seems all Hakans of the world have problems with Bison (dictator!)

Some of the best Hakan gameplay to date. Learned quite a bit about some of the matchups like how even the best Japanese Hakan players have a hard time dealing with Abel and Bison. Brilliant use of coward crouch especially against Rog and that jumping RH is so good. Love the mind games after knockdowns such as using whiffed standing fierce to bait a reversal on several ocassions. I would love to see this guy attend EVO in order to show the simple minded naysayers first hand that indeed Hakan does not suck. Moar vidz plz. :wgrin:

You’re right. I really need to use both his normals and coward crouch way more often.

Coward crouch to avoid crossup and then EX 360P is just amazing

its taken a while, but im finally impressed with a hakan player.

More Hakan

Yay! Thanks for more awesome vids.

I loved Hakan doing his Super on Vega’s roll. I wouldn’t think it’d put Vega up high enough normally to be grabbed. And anti-air super in general seems to be the best way to go with it. I don’t know why I’ve never though of that before, haha.

I can’t imagine Hakan being played much better and comprehensively than that. I’m looking forward to the next couple of months when everybody gets wise to his shenanigans and Yomi becomes more necessary.

lol i spy a gief rocking with turbo, do you?

that hakan is real good at reading his opponents, real, real good…

i LOVE watching button inputs, people mashing desperately when getting knocked down by hakan… hahha

^ The Hakan in the second video was annoying and I got tired of watching him real fast.

Otherwise though, I like the first and third vids, with the Hakan parts, that is. Thank you for providing new Hakan vids consistenly, thus far. =]
