Hakan Thread: I love my daughters, they are so pretty!

Hey does anyone think that ill have a hard time learning Hakan and playing with him since I have never played with grapplers?

Yeah anyone have any non ultra-2 anti air ideas. It seems like he’s going to need to be like chun without the ex bird focusing on neutral jump attacks as the aa. Needless to say this is the hardest and least forgiving form of aa. I’m hoping for a move like gokens low fierce that works as a pretty strong normal aa.

Well l’ve seen his dropkick sweep used as an antiair in some videos, but I think we’ll really need to go through all his normals and, like Puff says, hope to find something wonky like Blanka’s cr. mp. His normals look so varied that I’d be surprised if one or a few of them weren’t good antiairs.

Apart from that, I wanna try max range antiair ddt, early antiair slide (a la Dhalsim’s mk slide, which is unsafe normally but safe as a deep antiair), and coward crouch under a jump attack into 360/ultra.

Also, Hakan has an lp+lK air throw that people seem to forget, although I dunno if airthrows will still have their insane priority like in SF4.

Guiles air throw was broken good, everyone elses were ehhh. Elf’s air throw sucks and hardley anyone uses it much. From the vids hakans kind of looks like elf’s less like guiles.

I found Hakan’s LP+LK air grab pretty good and found it easy to connect on an airborne opponent.

Though a jump MP, qcf+P maybe a better option for damage.

Lack Of Hakan anything for 2 weeks is gonna be a real bummer…

I should be going to the SSFIV Launch Party in LA on the 23rrd. So I can report back then.

Guile’s airthrow was really useful not just because of its range but because his jump was a little slower and a little lower than Chun’s and Fuerte’s. Those characters can do jump instant air throw, but because they jump faster and higher, the lowest they can realistically be before throwing is higher than Guile can be.

Well, Hakan’s jump arc is even slower and lower, so we’ll see if that makes his air throw useful as well. Could be too slow or low, we’ll just have to see. But I hope at least that those characteristics will make things like jump back jab (where his hand kinda covers over his head) good antiairs.

If you could kindly test:

-Can he FADC Oil Shower or Oil Slide?
-If he can combo air to air j.mp to 360+K (it maybe too slow, but worth a shot. If it works then he can probably combo it to super as well)

  • If EX 360+P/K is invuln to strikes

I’ve already tested a couple of these:

-He can FADC Oil Slide, even from full screen.
-Can’t juggle jumping j.MP and then do 360+K. Tried with Super also, doesn’t seem to work.

I have an opportunity to play on the 24th, is there anything else you guys would want tested?

Can he cancel his oil dive into the slide or would that be kind of pointless? Also oil dive can punish whiffed srks and soul throws right?

oil dive can be punished by simply ducking, watch it whiff then punish… if it’s cancelable it still doesn’t make the move that good but at least much more useful
