I tried to defend the Counter Ultras, but after seeing them be armor breakable and then seeing what they did with Hakkan’s trap I can only say a huge FUCK YOU CAPCOM!!!
The trap ultra is exactly what the counters should have been. It functions a counter move should in every way, and is not dependent on your opponent doing a move. You can legitmately set this move up, you can use it to punish, this type of design even works in a juggle assuming Hakkan had some way to set one up and get under you. This is what Cammy should have had, it would be perfect. She would have a legitimate reason to select it over her other from a technical level, have realistic setups for it, and be able to use it in a juggle.
Implementing counters poorly is one thing and forgivable, but fucking them up so badly then making a completely new move which is actually a Counter Ultra done properly is the worst kind of fucking retarded you can be. It is like making two cars with octagon wheels and finally making one round, then not going back and putting round tires on the cars you fucked up and expecting people to drive them.

I mean I realized he wasn’t going to be a SUPER SERIOUS character, but everything about him screams slapstick. I mean what’s funny about him is just already all out there, he has goofy moves and ultras. Which is one way to do it. Though I would have liked something more subtle and slightly cooler.
i actually thought they were to help cammy and fei long get in on matches like sim and chun ryu so your opponent doesnt poke you to death. but i agree hakans ultra is a model of what a counter ultra should be and that its bs
Yeah, more so I just didn’t know who it was in the video, -20 rep for not knowing my SF EX? Though yeah, I wanted someone who wasn’t red, and someone without a katamari head. I mean he’s less a Turkish Oil Wrestler and more a warrior who trained for years on the slip and slide.
Again, I’m not really aghast with it (I feel like I need to repeat this because I get the same replies people who think he’s the worst get), though I definitely could have liked Hakan more than I do. I mean his Debut video was really cool, and the ultras are cool to watch. Though I think he might just get real stale real quick.
I definitely think they went further than they did with some of the other characters like Elf or Rufus, and I’m not particularly a fan of that. Sorry!
If you feel that way, why don’t you tell Capcom or put it in the counter ultras thread? I mean, we all knew Counter Ultras would be garbage, and we now know OCH is so much better, but nothing will change it now.** I agree it blows** and it’s a huge kick in the face to players of those characters, but raging on these forums changes nothing. I mean, Guile and Gen are even worse off (or so it looks so far) than Cammy and Fei Long. Not saying that makes it okay, but it could be worse.
But this is starting to make me think that either completely different groups of people balance different parts of the roster or that certain characters are kept under-powered for a reason. But then again, maybe we haven’t seen some tweaks. I don’t know how they do it, I’m just saying it seems really odd.

Well everyone one is entitled to their opinion and i didnt want to come off as an ass, even though thats usually what i go for lol. At least you didn’t rage like most the “haters”. Saying that he was a waste of a charecter, that one really pisses me off
I had a few issues with his proportions being weird (even for SF4) and his pupils being white, though I’m not disgusted with him. I’m probably going to play him a bit and maybe he’ll grow on me. Though I was hoping for something closer to Vega, meant to be serious, but instead flaming gay.
Well for Proportions i think Gief and T Hawk are bigger than him, in terms of pupils being white Dhalsim, Bison, Sagat, and Gen all have white pupils, and i still don’t see how Hakan looks gay, alot people keep saying he looks gay but i dont see it, its all funny as hell to me
