its translated from japanese. so in japanese it would be something like ‘when the slide hits you > if oil shower follow up was inputed > damage is now 100’…
Ah…I see…makes so much more sense lol…thanks!
Not a Hakan player, just need an answer to settle some confusion a friend has.
Is Oil Slide (without pressing the followup button) truly safe on block? If so what’s the frame data? Are there other variables involved here?
I know I’ve fought numerous Hakan’s who do this and it appears safe, but a friend disagrees and the frame data on the wiki doesn’t list any differences, just says -17
pimpmuffin the hakan slide is not safe, its like you mentioend -frame on block ‘normally’.
But we have discovered many ways to make the Hakan sliding on a frame advantage after block base on ‘MEATY’ timeing and certain setups.
your friends right, clearly you have either been fighting good hakans or your punish is c.hk… (as in a beginner)
NO his friend isn’t right. It can be made safe on block with proper spacing If I remember right you can get frame advantage from it.
NO his friend is right, he said its unsafe, pimpmuffin said its ALWAYS safe. The slide is clearly safe if spaced right, but the question isn’t whether it can be safe. its, if its safe all the time if the hakan doesn’t press a follow up.
He clearly says “are there other variables involved?” and says nothing about whether it is always safe, just whether it is truly safe which is open to discussion as to whether truly would be always or just mean sometimes. Anyway Im sorry you feel so upset about my response, that capatalized n o was just a typing mistake not me trying to be especially angry at you. Hakan slide can be safe if you do it point blank its not, but that pretty obvious without frame data.
I think the two of you actually agree but just don’t realize it. You both say that it is not safe, but can be made safe with proper spacing, timing, etc. QUIT HATIN’, MAN.
if that was me upset then you must of been upset when you capitalized your “NO” as well, i guess i may of went over the limit with the capitalizing of my: ALWAYS.
besides, he may of not said always, but the way he worded it all, im pretty positive he was going for always. He says “I know I’ve fought numerous Hakan’s who do this and it appears safe” how clearer can he imply that he means always?
What I meant was can it be made safe. And you’ve answered that. Thanks.
damnit! lol i knew you would come back and say that! DATS BS! you know what you meant lol… oh well.
I’m not an idiot CharlieMurphy, I know what -17 means.
When I said “I’ve fought Hakans who do this” what I meant was make it safe somehow.
But I though it had to do with whether or not you mash out the followup button or not…guess that’s not the case?
I haven’t tested it, but Im pretty sure there is a difference between how the slide hits depending on whether you put in a follow up or not. I know ultra david said there was. But either way you can make follow up or not follow up slide safe if you space it right, though it can be hard to get that spacing.
I checked the matchup thread, but I am having a tough time figuring out what the heck to do about Bison. Anyone have any advice? I know that oiled reversal rocket will catch scissor pressure if it hits deeply enough, but outside of that I’m pretty free to Bipson.
FACE THE MIGHTY BIPSON!
Heh, how intimidating! But Hakan shouldn’t worry in this matchup, he does well in it. You need to make the most of every knockdown, especially when Bison has no meter. Keep safejumping him, bait out EX Psychocrusher, and ALWAYS punish it. Punish with HP Slide. Don’t let him get away with it. You have to be aware of his options, if he has meter look for EX psycho and get ready to punish. You should be Os’ing teleports with slide if he has no meter.
I use ultra 1 in this, but Ultra 2 isn’t a bad choice, it’s just preference.
Thanks, Drew. Where should I look for OS options (redundant, I know)? The combos thread?
Heh I’m actually not sure, Bubafeast made an OS thread aaaaages ago, like in Super days, and a lot of those should still be viable in 2012. Should be kicking around somewhere. Hakan has some great new OS options now though, in LK Dive and LK Super, thread could do with some updating.
OSs are something that I never learned when I was playing Chun, and I know it was…not a weakness, I suppose, but it was an area that I could have been strong with but chose to ignore. This time around, with Hakan, I’m going deep. I’ll learn the OSs, even if I have to discover them myself!
I use Ultra 2 but only because I play a bison almost everyday. He LOVES to use the cross up psycho crusher on wakeup and U2 punishes really easily. You don’t have to guess. It also punishes cross ups.
The only issue is if they don’t play this style of Bison it is a real waste because Bison can pressure you bad enough without every leaving the ground or baiting it out with Devil’s Reverse.
