Hakan Moveset and Attributes

It’s not even just a little bit of range advantage. Oil makes it like the longest ranged command grab in the game. I’m still surprised how far oiled 360p grabs. Let’s him cancel his dashes. Oil is what makes Hakan a good character.

Has anyone used st.HP in block strings to try and get off an U1? The delay let’s you buffer the ultra pretty well. Like c.mk, FA, dnc st.HP buffer U1

Oh yeah, in case anybody isn’t aware if you do an oil shower and get smacked for whatever reason, it won’t be canceled.

yeah but you have to finish a certain part of the animation for it to count and it seems if you get hit doing a lk oil shower it goes away almost instantly, another note if you do EX oil shower and Sagat throws a projectile at you the first one will go through but even at 3/4 screen away his second one hit me before I was done with the animation

but if you jut wait till the projektil almost hit you both will pass and he can not move closs enugh after the first pass^

i got hit out of ex oil by ibuki’s kunai super. i dont know if that’s just with specific timing or if he’s not invincible to the kunai super.

True but the oil lasts less if you don’t do the complete animation

That would be because cody’s knife is technically considered a ‘strike’. LK version of super goes through it, but the hk does not.

What are you saying? That you get invulnuablility for only 1 projectile when u do ex shower?

i think one thing we definitely need to research is to gather some matchup specific block strings and find out where you can fit in a rh oil and get un-hitconfirmable trades to get hella oil time.

well worth getting hit in the face if i can get 13 seconds of oil.

Cody’s criminal upper (the one with the tornado), hit hakan out of his u2. and ex 360p grab is godly on wakeup if they don’t jump. I think i’m at 100% success rate with 360 on wakeup if they don’t jump.

I was initially set on using c.lk, c.lp, s.lp, s.F+lp. as a block string, but I think the c.lk and c.lp leave you even with the opponent, as far as frames go. so i think skipping the c.lp, and doing:

c.k, s.lp, s.F+lp. is better.

and from there, you’re in range to either, s.F+lp again, to swat them from jumping, or throw them.

also, I played a cody and blanka last night. against cody, oiled spd is a suitable punishment on blocked criminal uppers. if you know they’re going to criminal upper out of a block string, I’m pretty sure the hole between normals to the upper is punishable with oiled spd.

against blanka’s electricity, slide hits it out, and also punishes horizontal ball. I didnt know what to do against electricity when I was too close :(. I’m sure also, against horizontal ball, and ultra/super, you can punish with j.mp->slide/U2

edit: also, another important thing I didn’t see posted. You can MOVE while focusing, if oiled. so you can do focus, move forward, dash cancelXXs.F+RK. or w/e.

U2 is 100% invincible during all active frames. So 30 frames.

But has massive recovery so not much use for it haha. But I tested it in training mode. U2 and then Akuma swept, sweep went right through me. Fireballs go through as well.

0_0. I’m trying it more, my new AA option, an oiled retreating FA

no I know that I am just saying Sagat’s fireball was fast enough that he threw one that went through me and another hit me before I finished the EX oil up animation I doubt anybody else’s projectile is fast enough to do that but I guess it would depend on spacing

It seems instead of giving Hakan a completely reliable AA normal (honestly, considering all his command normals), he got U2 to discourage people from jumping on him (aside from focus).

With focusing in mind, do you guys think his focus dash cancel attack/ dash normal cancel/ parry, when oiled, is a glitch or an intentional design? I’m leaning toward the latter since he can move around while focusing, he has barely any combos, and he has a lot of normals.

Some Hakan wakeup options:

See, ex 360p IS invincible! It just doesn’t have much range. Also, see wakeup focus dash normal cancel. I got some cooler stuff in the works, though.

I think I’m sold on Hakan.

And can we call Hakan’s DNC “Riposte”? I think it’s a simpler explanation for what it does. I know focus attack can serve as a riposte, but Hakan has more options not directly tied to attacking with focus.

I just had the 720 ultra beat twice by some random normals from Sagat. they weren’t even TUs…I’m not sure what they were, I was too busy trying not to rage.

Also, I was thinking…Hakan probably has the fewest normals in the game, considering he has no close attacks and his jump normals don’t change no matter what angle he jumps at. Not like that really matters or anything. But yeah, I’m still finding him to be a blast though. Keep up the good work UltraDavid and others doing research…your videos have been very informative.

It seems that his DNC is essential, because of his poor defensive options against rushdowns. With little anti airs and wake up options, you to DNC a lot to use those invinicibility to frames to counter with and possibly go into Oil Slide or maybe EX 360p.

I don’t know if this is already known, but his j.f and j.rh can cross up, but only when the enemy’s in the corner.
