Can we please not coin this term “Disc Locked Content” when we are actually referring to it seriously. Its going to get really confusing when people are talking about DLC and DLC. See you cant tell whether I put download or disc locked 1st. It should be called Hidden Disc Content (HDC) or something along those lines.
Also we are talking about Capcom here so as theyre gaining a bad rep at the moment after the whole 2 players 1 console farce amongst other untruths theyve released in statements then DLC should probably stand for Deceitful Liars Creations.
I found this quite funny and I wanted to know how some of you would answer lool ok so…
you go into a store and the shop keeper shows you a nice looking coat, he even lets you wear it, he then tells you his price, you decide to buy the coat because it looks like it is worth the money, later that day at your home you find bags of drugs hidden within your coat, at the same time the police break through your door and ask you “are those YOUR drugs ?” what do you say ? Yes or No ?
Every single topic you post in that slags off capcom you write a load of “technical” stuff to try and turn it around so it looks like they are doing good.
Take your last post for example trying to make out that there is nothing capcom can do… What a load of crap theres loads they can do and number 1 is fix the sound, then number 2 is fix the coop online, then number 3 give us the characters.
Everyone of your posts at first glance looks like its written from a tottaly unbiased point of view but after reading I always feel like I want to go donate money to capcom.
i’m tired of this excuse. personally i don’t give a damn who started it first. it was never right to lock content that should available in the original release copy of the game and sell as dlc. it’s even worse that it’s on the disk already! i’m also tired of people hating on the people that mined data that was on the disk THEY bought citing some stupid law (DMCA) that back-doored its way to get passed. just because something is currently a law doesn’t make the law ethical nor does it automatically make sense. the patriot act,NDAA and SOPA are a few that come to mind that are horribly unethical laws that people let get passed because of sheer ignorance. if capcom had developed these characters later on after the game was finished i would be all for it especially at the $20 price tag for all 12. however, something tells me that the only reason why they are not charging $5 a piece for these characters is the fact that people found out about them being on the disc in the first place. maybe you guys should be thanking the people that found out about this instead of always blindly coming to capcom’s aid.
Rock Band has thousands of songs available for DLC, many of which weren’t even licensed at the time Rock Band 3 was initially released. Capcom may be trying to pretend that this is what they’re doing but they’re not doing it.
You can bring up a bunch of unrelated subjects that I didn’t even comment on and pretend I did, but this topic is about the DLC characters. And like I said before unless they get out of the contract with Sony those characters arent going to come out before the vita version. You can act like that’s a biased opinion all you want but it’s the fact of the matter that we all have to face whether we like it or not.
Besides, what room do you have to say things like “give us the characters” when you already have them unlocked? Your bunch of accounts don’t fool anyone and your obviously loving the attention since you are all over this topic since the video of you using the characters popped up. Combobeast = TheDB = headcheesemaster, just look at the post history.
Funny that after just saying on your other account that I’m always negative, you say this time “I make them look like their doing good”… so now I’m not negative anymore and I’m being accused of being too positive? lol
And now I just won’t bother responding to your posts since I seen a sign a few mins ago that said “Don’t feed the trolls”.
I ran into a blanka player online in an endless battle. I personally feel blanka’s ball is 10 times easier to punish than it was in SSF4, It goes up vertically more than bouncing away from you at a safe range. He’s still got the same mixup game, Didnt see the guy use too many juggles. But it was fun none the less.
Also, They are probably using an alternate xbox, since this will likely result in their xbox being banned.
So i’m quite sure people who are informed enough to hack the game files and play these characters are smart enough to cover their bases when the ban wagon rolls around. Either that or they just dont care.
The thing is though that these are facts. It’s no excuse but that’s also not reason to blindly hate on Capcom and Capcom alone. For instance BioWare’s Mass Effect 3. To buy ALL DLC available to that game you would have to shell out almost $900 without tax. You have to realize that everything companies do is to make money. It can’t always be for your entertainment at an affordable price otherwise they’ll never have enough money to invest in R&D. To make all these fancy new titles with the new engines they roll out with. et cetera.
rofl no.
the dude paid for the game.
they deserve the crap that was included on the disc.
they cant even be charged with theft.
capcom sold them the disc.
i hate bioware’s dlc practice also. what you fail to realize is that shoryuken.com is a FIGHTING GAME forum so they wouldn’t be relevant here. do not speak to me as if i’m some sort kid. i know full well that companies have to make a profit. but until you cite a report indicating that capcom wouldn’t have been able to make a very good profit by not having day 1 dlc(even though they took money saving steps such as reusing character models and the street figther 4 engine) don’t come at me with some bs implication that their funds for “R&D” were dependent on them screwing over their fan base.
Firstly, while SRK may be a Fighting Game Community forum it is not in any way limited to just that. Traveling around to other boards will make this more than evident.
Secondly, I am not talking to you like a child nor have I tried to. However, my words should not be taken out of context. I’m merely stating that they try to make as much money over the entirety of the year and not just in large irrational spikes. If they make consistent amounts of revenue they can dump it in other areas. Which is why I said Research and Development. They are in no way really “screwing the fan base”. It’s just marketing, pure and simple.
A hamburger is .99? Okay… That is fine… And if I want cheese on that burger? It’s $1.10 before tax. WHAT??? Since when does XYZ BURGER JOINT charge extra for cheese!!!
Silly right? Yep- and so is the whining about all this disc lock, downloaded argument.
Capcom is a corporation, not your friend. Capcom is in this game to make money, not care how you feel or coddle your every need. You think any of the heads of Capcom lose sleep because Joe Gamer on a website says their DLC agenda is corrupt? Nope. Yet here is a bunch of hardcore gamers getting their pantys in a bunch and screaming like a bunch of 5 yr old bitches with skinned knees.
Like it or not people like the game
Like it or not DLC will stay the same
Like it or not people WILL buy it
Like it or not it will be a majority of those screaming about it now.
So again I ask- why are people so angry?
It’s a game! You choose to be a gamer, no one has a gun to your head, buy it or not… Just chill!
People using the characters now? Meh… Should be fun, hope they cover their asses.
how is releasing finished characters on the disc that your customers bought and locking them away for months only to force those same people that bought the game to pay extra to unlock what was already on the disc in the first place not screwing them over? the reason certain companies like valve make very good revenue and the vast majority of the people that play their games have nothing but positive things to say about them is the fact that they actually give a sense of worth to the consumer. when the consumer feels a product is satisfactory they are more inclined to buy the next iteration of that product. more sales equal more profit. why do you think companies like walmart are putting companies out of business? the fact that they offer the same value for a cheaper cost in comparison to their competitors allows the to more than make up for the lower profit margin in increased sales. if capcom would stop their practice of trying to roach(yes i did say roach;)) money out their consumers with shady dlc practices, more people would buy they products thus negate the “need” for those practices in the first place.
i liked this comment just so i could unlike it. a correct analogy would be if the burger joint gave you cheese but told you that although the cheese is on your sandwich and looks delicious, in order to enjoy the melty goodness

you must first pay extra.
Sometimes I wonder if people even pay attention to what they’re saying sometimes. Valve has a LARGE DLC market. Case and Point, Team Fortress 2 Marketplace.
And put simply comparing Wal-Mart to DLC Marketing makes no sense. It’s the same in scope but not comparable. Wal-Mart sells literally the exact same goods as another dealer which is why people go to Wal-Mart. You cannot buy the exact same goods from someone else with Marketplace items. Ever heard of Big Oil and Monopolies? No one is forcing you to buy said good but if it’s something people are going to buy and might be willing to pay through the nose for, wouldn’t you charge them? You’d be lying if you said no.
i have never sated that i was completely opposed to dlc so the reason why you would emphasize the words dlc escapes me. i cited valve because they have never cut a portion of the game only to release it later for a price. valve doesn’t rip off their consumers. the reason why pc sales are through the roof is because of the fact that steam’s ecosystem and prices make it more worthwhile for customers to legitimately buy them rather than pirate. i brought up walmart simply to give an example of a business gaining more revenue by giving more value to the consumer. the goods are the same but the prices are cheaper. if capcom would just focus on making their games as valuable as they can be to the consumer and not engage in dlc shenanigans with the majority of their games, then more people would buy from them and be more inclined to by the next iterations of their games.
Tbh I dont like when capcom does this but I mean like 90% of companies do this yes its wrong but I am not gonna go crying over so locked characters,I got about over 100 hours already in sfxtk and it been about 3 weeks or so I like the fact that they wanted to spread the dlc characters out for whatever reason but it would have been better if they didnt put them on the disc on put half of them on the disc,I know people are mad that alot of there fav characters are dlc I want to play alisa but atm I am to busy playing sfxtk to complain I wanted this long to play it I can wait longer,I wont put the full blame on capcom but its the gaming industry
I’m not emphasizing it. I capitalize it simply because of the contraction of "Downloadable Content."
Valve does actually release DLC later once a game is out for a price. Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 DLC are a clear-cut case of this. Also Keys on Team Fortress 2 are just a means to an end for eating people’s money.
