Yeah I’m agreeing to that, I was saying according to that guys logic, if new content comes out it’s incomplete?
I think talking about whether SFxT is complete or not is semantics. Because even if it is incomplete, I don’t even care! I got all I need to learn and enjoy the game.
**ALSO I was VERY sure we weren’t getting Guy or Cody right away, they didn’t formally announce them, ****I certainly didn’t think we were going to get Haggar just because he was in the trailer although I hoped, **and in the trailer it had “NEW CHALLENGERS” and Cody says “Aw looks like we missed all the fun” …Just simple clues they were showing up late to the party. I guess some people are just too stupid to pick up on things.
Not to this extent. Imagine the Fantastic Four movie showing Galactus and the Watcher, and then never having them in the movie, and the movie only shows you half of it in theatres, and tells you you will need to buy the DVD later to complete the movie.
I’d still be upset by the fact they’re unplayable for awhile, but I could at least accept this, and have VALID reasons as to why they are delayed. By delaying characters we ALREADY KNOW WORK, and ARE ALREADY COMPLETE, and telling us we WILL need to pay for them in the future, they’ve told us the game out now is incomplete, and not fully worth purchasing right away. Why bother practicing to learn a character, when they’re all going to be patched and more are coming out anyways? What would I rather buy and play? Mario Brothers with levels 1-5, but no levels 6,7,8, and i have to pay full price when it comes out, and more money for the others later. Or buy Mario a few months later, get all the levels, and I don’t have to pay as much money.
Capcom has essentially pissed in the faces of all those who anxiously bought their product on day one, or pre-ordered it. Why should I ever buy another of their games again, knowing a REAL version is already in the works (or on the fucking disk in the first place).
This is a dangerous precedent Capcom decided to go with. Sure, it’s mildly annoying right now (or in some of our cases, rageworthy). But how far until we finally stand up? Capcom needs to get with the times. There is no excuse for shit like this.
And some people are too stupid to comprehend false advertising and getting fucked over by a company****
its ok, it was a generalization…it happens all the time…Like i said before, they never announced any DLC characters past Megaman and Pac Man, the 12 Vita “debut” characters were announced during that press release, that is all there is to it.
if people assumed that Cody and Guy were in the initial roster, thats their fault…thats all i can say. Its not a strong argument saying they were announced because of the CG trailer, again…like I said before it was strong foreshadowing on Capcom’s part nothing more nothing less.
we got to wait sometime to play the DLC characters while hackers get to have all the fun.
The only thing I see that can change this is that Capcom themselves go back on their press release(highly unlikely) and change their DLC plan to release the DLC characters ahead of schedule, however other DLC plans will also change because of this…
So basically your argument has boiled down to “What if they were just holding back the characters for no reason other than allowing them to debut on the Vita version first?”
I’m sure people would still be upset for what would seem like an unnecessary delay to access content, but as long as it was free, not as many would be. The double whammy of the content already being there but being made to wait and being expected to pay more for it is probably what has people as upset as they are, and rightfully so.
But seriously, it has happened many times in movie trailers. Quotes go missing, scenes go missing, even characters go missing. I’m too lazy to research it but its all over the place, just google it.
Again I agree that it sucks, but you need to stop generalizing things. They never said the game was incomplete. They sold us 38 characters and whatever features are defaulted with it. That is what they said is complete in every single advertisement I saw. The game is 100% complete without the 12 characters. That’s not an opinion really, that’s a fact. The 12 characters are extra content. To be clear yes it sucks they are on disc and it sucks they are charging but you cannot argue the game is incomplete. Its complete, period. You are entitled to feel screwed over or cheated by Capcom yes, but you cannot argue that they sold you an incomplete product. Its bugging me that people keep saying it.
The legitimate screwover job they did revolves around the 360 couch co-op thing or the fact that they are charging $20 for the DLC characters.
And I agree that these practices are questionable, but the thing is, Capcom is only starting to catch up with the times. Gaming companies have been pulling this shit for years now. I mean is everyone ignorant of the fact that Call of Duty mappacks are made alongside the game’s initial development? Mass Effect 3 just got exposed for doing the same thing. Why is this news to people? Is it because only now its hitting the FGC?
Think about the game as sets, lets be A the set containing all gameplay available in street fighter cross tekken and B the set containing all the data locked as DLC . since B is not empty this makes the game sold to you not complete it doesn’t matter if the game runs fine without those characters of if it has 12738012784917 unique characters with deep gameplay , the game is incomplete and that’s a fact.
To be fair plenty of companies don’t sell full games anymore and people may or may not feel ripped off by this ( there’s nothing illegal going on here ) but I’m seeing a lot of “the game is complete in my eyes” and that’s just wrong.
I do have to give props to Capcom for giving me free entretainment , every day there’s some interesting read about this game.
Well My emotions were the same. The reason my feeling are like this is because dlc is intended to add content to a game already in its most completed state(thats my definition at least). Once the discovery was made it meant that the game we got was not in its most complete state and that dlc would not add to the experience but make it the experience it was intended to be in the first place. The sad thing about the whole situation is that capcom would have never told us that, it had to be hackers and pirates who informed us of the status of the game. As a consumer I feel violated I mean if anyone else feels that the price of the completed game is 120 dollars or whatever feel free but I dont think the game is worth that much and If they plan to sell me the completed game at that price we should know well in advance. I doubt if the hackers would have found out about the dlc we wouldnt even have pricing yet. This is especially dissapointing for the tournament players they claimed to try so hard to cater to basically I have to pay a minimum of 80 dollars for this game or be sentenced to tournament death.
Essentially yes I’m curious if its just the money thing people are pissed about which is a legitimate complaint. This is nothing new in Capcom land really. The point of releasing characters free or for charge later in the games life cycle is obviously to extend the games life cycle. Keep users playing, keep people interested, keep their new game sales up.
Interesting way of putting it, but thats not how this works The game is not sets. Its one entity, one game. What you see is what you get. Capcom is not selling you Set B out of the gate. They are selling you A. B is irrelevant (until 6-7 months from now) because it is not what is advertised nor is it what you paid $60 for. I need to reiterate that no one knew of the DLC characters until someone hacked the disc. A game doesn’t suddenly become incomplete because set B is found on the disc where only set A was thought to exist. MvC3 was not incomplete just because Set B (Jill and Shuma) were on disc, the game was still considered complete, until set C came out (UMvC3). Its not like people (other than the now banned hackers) are getting exposure to these characters on disc anyways, there is no advantage for anyone right now.
To be a “Capcop” as some of the trolls who just joined 2 weeks ago like to call it, this is a much better option than doing an Ultimate SFxT, which oddly enough UMvC3 had far far less hate.
Btw has anyone compared the two? I mean they are similar situations.
MvC3: $60
Jill and Shuma = $10
UMvC3 (new stages, modes 12 new characters) = $40
Game patches: Free (heroes and heralds, etc)
UMvC3 Vita (identical to console brother) = $40
DLC costumes: $4 a bundle x 11 bundles = $44
**Total: **Approx $194
SFxT: $60
12 characters: $20 *Side note, does NO ONE see how much cheaper this is than Shuma/Jill? *
Gems: $??? (so far the new gems coming are free but we can ignore them since most will be banned from tourneys)
Game patches: Free (tournament mode, replay mode, etc)
DLC Costumes: $1 each, or $13 per side = $26 for all swap costumes
SFxT Vita (will have all of the above included) $40
Total: $146
As of right now it seems like we’re saving about $50 here in the long run if you were to buy everything they are going to sell.
What’s incredibly ironic here is that back when UMvC3 was announced people were bitching: “WTF CRAPCOM?! Y U NO PUT 12 CHARACTERS ON DISC! YOU HAD THESE CHARACTERS MADE ALREADY! LYING FUCKS! I NO WANT TO BUY NEW DISC!”
Now they make the SFxT characters alongside production again this time putting them on the original disc* now making it so your current SFxT is not useless much like everyones MvC3 discs* and also giving you the option to buy the characters, and people still bitch and whine.
This is a better option in my honest opinion. Capcom is making it so you don’t have to buy another disc and the community isn’t segmented SOL. You can choose to buy the new characters or you can choose not to, but this way with future updates no one gets left out. Can’t ever satisfy all customers sadly.
I bought the game thinking “I can’t wait to play Cody and Guy” as they are my SSFIVAE mains. Its shitty what Capcom did and they WERE ADVERTISED/STRONGLY HINTED AT BEING IN THE GAME. Seems all I can do is wait until they are released and from what I’ve seen from the videos people have released from them, not only are they complete but they’re fucking good. I got a friend I play with on xbox live that is excited for Lei Wulong (his Tekken main since he was in Tekken 2) and I can’t wait for Elena and Dudley as well. Its bad but because of this, I’ll be more wary of Capcom games when they are brand new and will just wait until all the content is released for a game and most likely get it used. I’ve said my piece about this and I’m done raging.
isnt advertising one thing… and selling another considered “bait and switch” tactics? which IIRC is illegal in some if not most states… lets sue capcom as large group, our sole demand? all the DLC free.
Funny too because its still the same like 4 or 5 people arguing for awhile now. How about yall all agree to disagree & say yall farwell fuck you’s and end this.
No matter what I feel pretty damn sure will still paying for these characters 6 months later; Yes there all completed on the disc. Trials, Cutscenes, & all. And there aint shit we can do about it. Pretty sure by now they’ve noticed the uproar.
