Plenty of artists do commercial works because it pays. Dali did window displays at Macy’s. A lot of the portraits hanging in galleries were commissions. To get mad at a dude for getting paid while grinding it out in galleries and putting out artbooks full of things that had nothing to do with Alien, Korn or whatever retarded sense of logic you have is some third grade understanding of the world.

Doing art for a large faceless corporation is much less intimate than doing art for a washed up crybaby that hasn’t evolved artistically since 96.
H.R. Giger isn’t even close to being as mainstream as dali. The only reason he’s known as well as he is is because of Alien. in most cases people don’t know his name outside of nerd culture.For a good example look at Beksinski, his art is much more varied than Giger and shows a much wider range of emotions, however how many of you bros are going to have to GIS the dude to remind yourself who he is or that you’ve seen his art before. Try asking some random bro wearing cargo shorts and a hockey jersey about dali and he will probably recognize the name. H.R. Giger…not so much.
not once did I say anything about his art. I think his craft is legit, he is amazing at what he does. but what he portrays is much more interesting than how he portrays it.

Wasn’t a huge fan of H.R. Giger, but his art definitely revolutionized various media, most notably the Alien franchise.
Much of the movie monster and alien designs in contemporary cinema began borrowing from him, which is a relief compared to cartoonish creatures that they used before.
