Are you kidding?
I think it was that terrible movie along with the last few Alien related movies that killed him.
Bad movies kill people.
Don’t believe me?
Ask Siskel & Ebert.
That’s right you can’t.
Cuz they’re dead too.
I like Alien 3.
wow
i downloaded the genesis version of alien 3 last night and decided to read a bit about the movies on wikipedia (havent seen most of them). literally found out who this guy was for the first time about 15 hours ago. crazy.
rip.
i liked his stuff. the only Alien film that actually captured his art was the first one. anyways, RIP.
Not really an art fan but of course I love Giger. He will be missed
Bummer, he could draw some scary shit! RIP
This is very upsetting. Mr. Giger was one of my favorite artists, and his ability to use his dreams as his pallet was something that Inspired me to work with my art. Biomechanical was something that I always tried to emulate, and his style was shockingly unique, grotesque & beautiful.
The art world will cry today.
As sad as his passing is at least his work will literally live on in Alien: Isolation, his passing will only inspire Creative Assembly to work harder to live up to his vision.
(Oh, come on, 2014! You do have to be such a kunt? I asked you kill someone we all hate for once. Is that really too much to ask?)
Well, shit. I have a giant book of art of his that I’ve still been meaning to look through. Guess I’ll have extra incentive now even though Aliens was/is arguably already my favorite movie or at least tied for it with The Thing. It’s weird looking at older games and even some newer ones still that aren’t explicitly related to Alien franchise and seeing how much stuff in is basically visually inspired if not outright “stolen” from it, like with the aforementioned Contra series.
This is doubly a shame given the last Alien-related movie that came out, Prometheus, was such fucking wasted potential. Thanks Lost writer.
Sigh. Rest In Peace, Mr. Giger. You will be missed.
P.S. 2014, go flay yourself.
The man was an artisitic inspiration to me since I was in my single digits. Most kids hid porn mags from their parents, I had Giger books. I got into even more trouble when I started copying his artwork. Seriously, my parents were considering taking me to a counselor.
RIP.
My least favorite thing about H.R. Giger is all of the people who go bonkers over his shit because it’s “creepy”. Don’t forget, that dude did a Mic stand for the lead singer of Korn.
Yea so?
Inevitably there will be some loser who likes the same thing as you but who cares?
All i’m sayin is that 90% of H.R. Giger fans are a step above juggalos. The themes behind his art are much more intersting than the actual art itself. Too deep for the “FGC”.
One of his best, and my favorite:
The horrific imagery that resulted from it is also noteworthy,

dont ever try to figure out what an artist does…
which reminds me: yesterday an artist told me that once a guy who made derogatory comments about art and artists, wanted a present from him without actually paying anything.
so he did the following: he painted two paintings.
One depicting a pile of shit but painted very artistically and with colours.
the other painting depicted a nicely shaped woman but instead of colors he used his own shit!
the guy without knowing what material was used, took the woman painting. he chose the subject over the art
God forbid people fondly remember an artist because he gave them an uneasy feeling that they were completely ok with having. You don’t have to know the number of hairs on a pieces asshole to truly appreciate something. For a lot of people, it seems, he opened up a space where feeling uncomfortable looking at artwork was an enjoyable experience, if that isn’t a good reason to remember him, I don’t know what is.
You keep making at the most random connections and comparisons. First its Korn and now its Juggalos. Maybe you should just stop posting before you say somthing really stupid.
