Gyah Kita Ki (My demon brethren): The Firebrand teams and assists thread

I agree with this a lot. If I didn’t have a lot of Dorm experience already I’d be really weirded out by Doom’s movement, but they do feel very similar in that respect. I’ll admit I am amazed at the speed and height that Doom’s airdash comes out. It’s really freaking good.

I’ll see about mashing that M after raw tag.

Don’t mash it. There is a buffer window. You have to time it

I was playing someone last night and he was using hawkeye firebrand doom…he hit me with an arrow I believe then gimlet dhc to transformation then swooped me and it looked liked it comboed…is this possible or did I just not block it? If so would that make a good team I was thinking wesker hawkeye firebrand

Did the combo counter go up from the hit?

I don’t see what’s so amazing about that personally, Firebrand is a point character, not a support or anchor character.

Hi everyone I’m new to the shoryuken forums. I’ve been struggling recently with incoming mix-ups with firebrand (my team is firebrand / doom / ammy.) I mostly call cold star and then air bon voyage, but they can push block it and stay in the air, and whenever I try to guard break them, I end up getting grabbed. What other options do I have for mixups?

As long as you call Cold Star close enough, your Air Bon Voyage should knock them into the ice shots which will hold them in place and prevent them from air throwing you. This lets you set up multiple high/low setups once they hit the ground. I highly encourage you to look up pretty much any of Zak Bennet’s matches as he is absolutely amazing at doing this.

Also, if the incoming opponent doesn’t have an airdash or double jump, you can call Cold Star and fully charge Demon Missile H for the unblockable. I assume you know about this but it’s always worth mentioning.

The problem is when they advancing guard, the cold star keeps them in the air, and I get no high low mixups. This video shows at 3:20 what my incoming mixups usually are. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYjxlexEFgA

If I call ammy closer, I feel like they’d only be more likely to be in the air.

Anyone have any other incoming options other than the unblockable and the guard break? I get that sometimes that’s all you need, but it feels so limited.

I love Babaghanoush’s comp (FB/Hulk/Sent) … at least in principle (not always his execution >_<). Hulk’s AA seems really good for the bat.

It’s pretty much a standard DHC for Vergil. I use it with Cap/Vergil. It is kinda hard, but it’s one of the most damaging DHCs, and you get meter back and the option to do more loops if you want. It’s worth learning.

Now running FB/Missile/Repulsor, so much fun!

Not really a Firebrand player but I like the character. I’m interested in him.
Is Firebrand/Dorm/Doom one of the better Firebrand teams?

It’s a good team. That’s the team Kresent uses and it’s the one I’m currently shifting to.
Loathe as I am to admit it, pretty much all the best Firebrand teams are going to have Doom on them. That third character depends on playstyle and gameplan, but you pretty much need to have Doom.

In terms of assist coverage, Doom/Dante (both on α assist) is probably your best bet.

The Firebrand/Doom duo has been pretty well explored; any team that has the two is going to have a lot of options is firebrand is on point. You have strong assist options in doom, excellent raw tag combos off Bon Voyage, good DHC options between the two with luminous body and finger lasers/sphere flame after dark fire.
There have been a couple of notable discoveries with Firebrand and Dormammu; some of Zak Bennett’s tech is pretty inspiring, Dorm makes up for some of the damage Firebrand lacks, and he does get unblockables into luminous body with stalking flare. The issues with Firebrand/Dorm, especially with doom are that you don’t have a strong lockdown assist, which makes both the reset and unblockable parts of firebrand’s game that much more difficult and/or costly in terms of meter, and it’s just that, meter hungry. You have to burn at least two bars to get a guaranteed demon missile, sometimes three or four depending on the situation.

Shuma is the key

Doctor Doom is.

can anyone summarize when you can hard tag into doom after bon voyage? it makes no sense to me. It seems like you can always do it mid screen, but since firebrand combos always go to the corner that doesnt really help. in the corner it seems random.

also is the swoop assist overhead?

To the first part: I can’t offer any advice as I am still learning the spacing myself.

To the second part: no.

So I’ve decided to put off learning Ammy and just run with Firebrand/Doom/Sentinel for the time being. This is a team that pretty much screams “Play Magneto on point instead” but I think it should be somewhat decent. Thoughts?
