I use pad (learning arcade stick currently),Guy is pad friendly combos-wise confirms from Cr.lk ~St.mp(link) are your only problems if you don’t plink.Well any link becomes easy if you practice them, button configuration depends on how you like the placing of current buttons(up to you).
Which pad are you using? I’m exclusively a pad player of Guy since Super first came out. I personally find the PDP Afterglow pads are best for me. Switched after ruining the d-pad on about 6 or 7 Xbox 360 pads. I can’t get on with the MCZ fight pads at all, I don’t like the 6 button layout and huge d-pad.
I use the regular Xbox 360 pad and the d-pad doesn’t work that good. We share the same bad luck with those d-pad So those PDP Afterglow pads are good? what is the difference?
The pad size is slightly smaller, and although it feels strange for a day or two switching to it after using the standard 360 pads for years, I would highly recommend it and I’d never go back. The d-pad is the same disc type, but smaller, smoother and sturdier. Due to their design, standard 360 pads always have one direction on the d-pad that feels different and more clicky than the others, particularly on the pads with the rotating retractable d-pads. I find the shape of the bumpers and triggers on the Afterglow, combined with the pad’s smaller size, means your fingers naturally rest right where they need to be for quick, easy access. It also moves the Start, Select and Home buttons up out of the way so you don’t hit them by accident. But for me the main selling point is the d-pad. The best pad I’ve ever used for fighting games.
I once tried playing Guy on PC with a Wii classic controller, even then Id say Guy with pad isnt bad. Cr LK to st MP timing can be gotten after a bit of time so I dont think plinking is absolutely necessary for this character.
Well let’s put it this way, in the last 3-4 years I’ve got through about 7 or 8 standard Xbox 360 pads. Admittedly most of them could probably be repaired, but it’s a lot of trouble and expensive buying the replacement parts and even tools to open them up. That and I’m lazy and suck with electronics.
I’ve had my Afterglow pad for about a year now and the d-pad, buttons and sticks all still work exactly the same now as they did on the day I bought it.
So in comparison the Xbox 360 pads are overpriced rubbish with pretty bad d-pads that you’re lucky if it will last a year, assuming you’re regularly playing fighting games.
I really hope PDP work on a wired pad for the Xbox One.
Thanks for helping me bro. If i don’t get a stick definitely I’m buying this pad.
I’m new to fighting games. This is my second month playing SSF4, and i don’t even want to try using Guy online, i suck with him, specially applying pressure.
Is there an easy way to stop run command at the earliest frame possible?
Yeah I’ve never had a problem with it at all. The only inputs I seem to mistime are ninja sickle > U1 and raw LP hozanto > U1 without FADC. But that’s more to do with the timing than the actual input itself. I can do it maybe 80% of the time in training mode, but I always manage to screw it up and do whiff EX run if I try going for it in a match, so I usually won’t even bother trying.
Interesting…yeah I agree In-match it’s quite difficult to pull off…requires a lot of concentration and meter! A far cry from what you could say about Rufus’ ultra combos!
