“Be yourself” is vapid advice that is void of any substance and avoids any real commitment or action on your part. It’s the perfect type of thinking for people like the dude who just offed himself and 6 other unfortunate people.
Better advice: INVEST in yourself. Think about how much better that is than simply BEING yourself. If you invest in yourself and yourself alone, you’re not going to let the first woman who smiles at you nicely come and take everything away from you, nor are you going to be lonely and sad all the time like this guys was. You’re going to be whatever you want to be, or else maintain that goal until you achieve it. Stop settling for what you are and think more about what you could be.
That’s much better advice that will make everyone respect you more as a person, yourself and women included.

I disagree. I think this guy throws off every signal that triggers a “WTF” flight response from not only females, but from other males. You pick up on so many things subconsciously, and they may not even make sense until you step back away from it and put thing together. Look at how many people on the forums he posted on had him pegged as a “serial killer” without even knowing very much about him other than what he posted.
And in finding mates, it’s perhaps even more subtle. Pretty much everything about you is a clue to you true nature. He probably sent of every sort of creep signal imaginable. The saddest thing is that it could have been a slippery-slope that spiraled out of control, as he struck out with girl after girl, all the while struggling with some major mental problems.
We need to be addressing this type of thing, because we’re coming to a really strange point in society, where this sort of thing is common, and all it takes is the right combination of crazy and environment to create a nut case like this one. We’re also not empowering our young boys to value themselves, which just makes them all the more likely.

As most of you guys know, Elliott made posts on the bodybuilding.com forums. However I can give a bit of detail on what happened there.
The misc (short for miscellaneous) section of bodybuilding forums is essentially the reddit/4chan/general discussion housed on bodybuilding.com. It’s a very popular forum and many people who don’t even lift post there. Just how in the fgc, we have our own lingo and culture that is hard for outsiders to understand. The same can be said on the misc. I’m a miscer as well so I can essentially translate and give more information on what happened. (I have the same username there if you don’t believe me).
The misc is notorious for widespread and blatant trolling and when Elliot posted threads on the misc, everyone just assumed he was another random troll. His threads included about how he was mad that he saw an Indian kid with a hot white girl, and how he was forever alone. The replies were about 50/50 of helping him (legit advice I should mention) and trolling/ignoring him. No matter what was said to him by users attempting to help him, he would counter it with murder logic thus making it seem like even more of a troll. One user in particular tried to talk to him and keep giving him advice (I won’t mention his name but many news stories mention him) but even his advice was shot down by Elliot. Elliot had an account that was a month old with about 50 posts. Since the shooting, most of the account personal information and posts were deleted but can still be viewed through Google cache.
Combining both Elliott’s posts and statements from his manifesto he wrote before the shooting, in my opinion it’s safe to say that the shooting was inevitable and that no amount of talking to him would change that. He had delayed the shooting 3 times I believe: once for his father being in town, two for being in crutches for 6 months after injuring his leg after getting beat up (he attempted to push people off of a ledge at a party), and last for getting a cold. He was fed up with delaying the “retribution day” so much that may 24 just happened to be the day that was decided.
