Assisti seus videos, parabens pelo 2 lugar no campeonato.
Gostaria de mandar em conversa separada algumas coisas que percebi sobre seu Guy.
Sem querer me achar ou ser pedante. Vamos trocando informacoes e crescendo junto.
Abracos, e assim que tiver tempo eu escrevo mais em detalhes sobre o que penso que pode melhorar teu gameplay.
Abracao!

Thanks for the feedback Whitewind, I am just trying to help you Guys, the same way you help me through your posts.
Man, honestly, with Guy either you practice hit confirm, or you will not grow. He is a bitch in that sense. You have to get the best out of the opportunities you have to deal damage, so being able to react with shadow kicks on hit and to mix stuff up on block is more than vital when playing him.
Funny you’ve been doing the MP hozanto to catch short mashers! Try to practice and do it conciously now!
I have a good training pattern to fix the scrubby cr HK slide habit.
Guy’s cr HK slide is actually a great move, one of his best normals when spaced correctly. But that is also it’s biggest flaw. If spaced poorly, you get punished big time.
So the training I advise you is:
Go to practice mode and set the dummy to record. Then, you record your opponent (it would be best if you pick somebody that has fast walkspeed) walikng forward and backwards and sometimes throwing some pokes here and there randomly.
Than go back to the menu and set it to play and now you can practice your spacing using ONLY the cr HK slide.
What you are looking for to achieve here is NOT TO KNOCK HIM DOWN. if you knock him/her down, most probably that means you are doing the spacing wrong (if he/she blocks, you are in a very punishable position). Do it until you can hit him 10 times straight without knocking him down, and then record again.
Of course, a friend walking back and forward, throwing some pokes here and there would be even better for practice.
Even being lazy, which believe me I am a lot, you should give it a try man!
Something around 15 minutes per day can do wonders for you.
You will see, you will stop abusing cr HK slides at unsafe distances in no time (of course, you can always think, and then use it on purpose, when you really are looking for a knockdown, but I mean, the scrubby way of using it will disappear, or at least get better).
Hope it helps.
Ta add cara, vamo conversando sim!
O prazer sera todo meu
Brunaleski!
Man, VERY GOOD training options there! Thank you very much, I am pretty sure you are contributing big time here, don’t worry!
I like the idea of getting the cr lk > CS MP > run shadow kick or run stop hit confirm down, because one cr lk > CS MP has much better frame advantage on block than two cr lk > CS MP.
Although performing the full target combo, if you get the distance right, gets you more damage, and grants you a safe run > stop (I think you know but only MP > run stop can be unsafe depending on the distance), this practice is very important in Guy’s offensive game in my opinion. Plus, ths OS EX BSK is a good bonus for timing practice. I would say that if you plink the cr lk > CS MP link, you have another plus in this practice pattern.
All the other practice patterns are also very important for Guy (especially number 2 and its variations), and I liked your advices on punishing odd moves.
Thanks again, I hope everybody enjoys.
Please man we would love it
I am already taking those into consideration, though I do not consider myself the best person to be writing about Ultimate Pro tips and etc…
I’ll try to gather stuff around here, and do my best anyways…we can all help to fill the tutorials, and I would be glad to edit it, just the way it has been here.
An interview with Kiryu is very possible. As soon as I go back to Japan I will try to contact him (I’m back home on vacation now).
Maybe I should open a thread before interviewing him, to gather stuff people would like to ask?
Edited to add Brunaleski’s training pattern examples.
I need help a lot with how to execute the run stop after a blockstring correctly. It seems that if i wait it gives them time to mash a normal which can counterhit me if i decide to do a late cr.lk, if i mash i can eat a reversal srk. I don’t know the timing its pretty inconsistent. My normal blockstring up close is cr.lk x2 > s.mp xx run stop or hozanto or bf. If i want to use run overhead ill do the tc off the cr.lks so it doesn’t go over them (until 2012).
What does the TK mean? new 3000 guy still just a special move guy really. trying to be the safe guy that your talking about. this is just what i needed too. Thanks for this.
Tiger Knee, in reference to the old Tiger Knee motion. So, the inputs for TK Air Grab would look like this: :qcf::uf::p:.
Hi guys, newbie here
Your thread is greatly appreciated, i’m still far from calling myself a Guy player but it’s getting there. I just hate when in AE i set the ranked match search for ‘players with my skill’ and i get B+ Ryus, Adons, Makotos. However i did play a Mak who was ranked 82nd but i always lost in the final round with the Mak having around 10% life.
The thing is, i need advice, loads of it. and a stick, i’m tired of hitting QCF punch and Guy just slaps air all day.
Also, i find that i rarely use Guys TC and Bushin Chain, i know cr.LK connects to it but i don’t know, it’s a big bad habit.
Well bp isnt their skillevel if their pp is around yours you can beat them, dont be afraid of points my first match in super was against an abel player with 14k bp and I won with dhalsim
Also a stick wont make you play better until you get used to it, took me a few month to do the basic stuff and a year to get good. Casual playing ofc
I played with a B+ Makoto, 82th place, out battles ended like 4-2. note this was the first tiime i played Guy. Probably the Mak didn’t have any frikken idea what Guy does in general
Break that habit, learn his BnB his punish combos, all of them, get in your muscle memory as much as you can, st mp and TC are a major factor for Guy’s Ground game, and pressure. Just stick to training mode, heck face against a Character with a DP on the hardest difficult so you know you’re doing everything safely and what isn’t safe.
Been in the training room for a couple of hours, i just can’t do it with this keyboard, it’s impossible, it doesn’t read commands. Doing BC works 75% of the time, hell QCF works 50% of the time
Thanks anyways guys, now if you don’t mind i’m going to the lab to learn some ground game
On keyboard… why don’t you just buy the new pad being released by Hori? According to an interview with one of the staff who developed it, it’s only going to be around $30. Having said that though, I’m not sure if it’s out yet or not but it’s going to be significantly cheaper than any stick you’ll find (assuming prices in Australia are at least a tiny bit similar to whereever you are).
it is out and it’s only $35 US on amazon.
I hate pads, it’s sun playing marvel vs capcom; mashing buttons and laughing it out with a friend, but for a more sophisticated strategy to mashing i just find pads to be useless. atleast to me anyways.
Thanks for the links though, sounds like a good deal for anyone wanting a pad.
How new are you to fighting games?
I have a sneaking suspiscion that your keyboard may be 2KRO.
If this is the case, stop playing fighting games on a 2KRO keyboard, they are quite literally not up to the challenge of a fighting game, and I’m not being facetious about this, like a bunch of people in the old “pad vs. stick” debate.
2KRO means that, at maximum, the keyboard will only register 2 inputs at the same time. This means special moves will be tough, and anything requiring more buttons/keys than that, such as EX moves, will be (literally) impossible.
