Wut r his best movesto mist cancel out of? I kno that far S is great, and HS is good, but is there anything else? f+HS can be JC or mist cancelled, but thats about the only good types of pokes that can be used with mind games and mist cancels for poking. Anything else?

Standing HS is by far one of his best moves to MC. It executes fairly fast and has a large blockstun, so you get some interesting mixups after it. Another move I see MC used on pretty often is crouch S; it gets used a lot for tick throws (crouch S, MC, dash and throw).

How do I combo the Johnny’s coin thing and the mist?

I played someone who pretty much screwed my life with Johnny so I want to learn to use him, he did pretty lots of shit with that coin thing, and he got me off guard with the mist and some loop thing he did to me, can anyone help me on this?

I saw a vivid once where johnny did,

2D, 236HS, 5S, 236k, dash, 2P, 236HS, 5S, 236P, 236HS, 6HS

It was performed on Testament, but I’ve never been able to connect that combo on anyone. The timing on the 5S is strict and I think that the combo may be character specific like Testament and Pot. If you’re in the corner though, yo can,

6P, 236HS, 236P, 236HS, 236P, 236HS, 236K, 236HS, 6HS

I personally gave up on learning Johnny, i can’t MC for shit. SOL KICKS ASS!!!

I remember seeing that combo in a match vid (MSY vs Negi) I think. The reason it worked was because the sweep (2D) was a counterhit so Testament stalled before falling giving the coin enough time to connect. Although I think this combo works on lighter characters like Millia even without counterhit (not sure though).

haha… im surpised people think chipp is a scrubby char i mean like i can beat alot of other chars there is like 3 chars i cant beat with him tho because he takes too much damage. Johnny is 1, Pot is 2, and Anji is 3. those guys always beat me.

on another note… i saw that vid and tried practicing that combo i always messed it up in the middle so i just made my own spin off of it. btw johnny = too good.

You can get Tanaka’s fight with LB in the Reno Crew site, and replay his air combo over and over until you get it down pat. :wink: Pay attention to how he plays, his Johnny is gangster!

I really suggest that you learn the full air combo even if it seems like an excess of work; an hour or two spent on executing that air combo means that you’ll have it with you for the rest of your Johnny lifespan.

It’s definately worth obtaining when the local competition is getting tougher. If you choose not to though, I guess you’ll be reading Slayer’s haiku over…and over…and over… :smiley:

Yeah, I’ve had Tanaka’s Johnny replays since they got put up, Putting aside the fact i don’t want to play the “the same johnny” as him(whats the point? He’s better :D), i did try Working on “mimicking” his Combos a bit…You were there, You even got hit by numerous 6k > S > K > …nothings and Punished me for em :smiley:

Anyhow, Sice i don’t have the PS2 game and every time i hit the MU there is usualy somone there to play against, so I can’t be Expeirementng with Combo’s When playing against players of your caliber…It would effectivly turn my 20% win rate (LOL) into Nothing from not using my universal 4-5(2hcounter > 6K > JD > 236H) while i am Fumbling around, trying to get one of those Awsome 15 hit double FRC combos.

And the main reason i havn’t realy “studied” the many many johnny combos is cause they are all different and tend to only Work on 1 or two charicters…Even with that said tho, i plan on Sneaking to the MU in the early AM or something, before you guys get there, for some Good Practice eventualy :smiley:

What’s the priority order of Johnny’s air attacks?

I find that air to air, S is good, air to ground he seems kinda weak with his K.

Maybe i oughta use Divine Blade transport and FRC…

Anyways, air to air j.S is king. Spam it like there’s no tomorrow. For going air to ground, j.HS is pretty damn effective. If you do the j.HS deep enough you can combo even off of it into like K-S-2D-236HS for a free coin. Too good. If it hits on counter they get staggered, so it’s all up to you then.

Also, you can do a Divine Blade (Not the transport, just during a normal jump) then FRC it, that’ll pull them up off the ground then depending on how high up you where when you did the Blade you can either D->41236HS if you were a little high up or if you were lower to the ground you can just land and combo from there. Play with it to get used to it.

Ive started to use johnny quite a bit now. After I saw some match vids of him in action I got reinspired and picked him up again. I have a question about this one combo that I cant seem to get down.

Ok the combo that I saw in the vids was s.K,s.HS, lvl2 236S, dash in, s.K,s.HS, 623S xx S frc, j.K,j.P, jc, j.K,j.S,j.D, 41236HS =big fucking damage. Anyway the thing I cant do is jump cancel after the first j.K,j.P. Its hard to tell if he is JCing on the first kick since (correct me if im wrong) you can only jc on either a kick or a slash. So im thinking he is doing j.K jc j.P, j.K, j.S, j.D, ensenga. Can some one help me out with this?

yes with johnny, I don’t know about the other characters? but you can’t JC his j.P

and also are you jump installing before you do the divine blade transport? like 5K [8] then cancel the jump with 5H and 623SS frc the rest of the combo ect. j.P-K-JC-P-K-S-D ensenga is pretty easy to do on dizzy.

Hmm im not really sure how to respond but to answer you question no im not jump installing before the divine blade transport infact I dont jump at all during the combo. I guess if I cant figure it out I can just end the combo the way I have been doing, still does great damage but I really want to figure this out.

johnny’s standing kick is jump cancleable right!, so when you dash in after a lv2 MF do a standing kick and press up, then cancle the jump before it even happens with a standing HS. you can also use close slash insted of standing kick too.

yes his basic DB combo does do massive damage, but the jump install can make it easier to get a 1-hit.

another way of doing it is 6239SS frc (Tiger Kneeing it)

I don’t know how to explain it any better, but the divine blade transport can’t be JC ed by doing it normaly, you have to do 1 of the above.
