And it would make everyone else cringe as well, which of course means more things to complain about which is $$$
GGX2 #Reload for the original Xbox didn’t have terrible netplay. It could be bad, but I’d say about 75% of my games went well lag-wise.
Same with GGX2#R PC netplay hack. Was great fun.
So you think the majority of people that play Guilty Gear are tournament players.
Anyway, Aksys is doing everything they can for us and people continue to shit all over them, even when we know they’re porting Blazblue too. This makes my stomach turn.
agreed purify.
i ? aksys. i’d be playing blazblue all day long if there were an arcade near me.
You go to competitive fighting game tournaments for hardcore players. None of us care about storylines!
You’d see some very different views if you talked to hardcore fans at an anime convention. They will drool and cosplay and write fanfics and read indie hentai mangas and love this game.
This release is more for the anime conventions and less for the tournaments.
I hate to be another whiner here but I let myself get my hopes up that we might’ve seen a next-gen release with online play. Oh well.
It was nice of Aksys to let us know about it, though.
Make that 5, and I play competitively.
I ony rememeber the story of GGX. Which I still dont remember. GGACP is decent i guess no GGXX arcades to play it are near.
Dear Aksys:
WE NEED THIS SHIT ON PC (and later, an online patch)
Truly yours, Hayama
I’ll probably pick it up if I see it around. Not one of my top priorities though.
Is one of the 5 people who care for the GG story
No, despite being proven wrong time and time again by the likes of the Transformers movie, Benjamin Button, and anything Masato Kato urinates on, I like to think people will see GG’s shitty story as rightfully laughable.
Irrelevant. If company A offers something (like, say, I dunno, online play with decent netcode) and company B doesn’t, company B should be rightfully criticized.
-
It isn’t that horrid. Also, every story in every fighting game is pathetic.
-
There’s no netplay because this is a ps2 re-release and guilty gear’s fanbase isn’t that big. It won’t sell enough copies to justify it. This is just Aksys kissing us on the cheek. “We haven’t forgotten you.”
I’m surprised by how many people just blatantly dislike stories of fighting games. I found Street Fighter’s story very interesting, and I’m REALLY enjoying the recent Udon comics.
Also, this game is coming out for Wii as well, which handles online play quite well with other games. Whether or not this has online play will determine if I buy the game for Wii or not, because nobody near me will play, so I need to be able to connect to people who do, and more importantly, when I have time to play.
- Why do you present an opinion as a fact?
- Why wouldn’t a competitive GG player want to play the latest arcsys game which is a successor to the GG series?
- I guess all those top japanese GG players who now play BB aren’t very competitive on your standards.
So which is it?
“But we have forgotten to include a feature standard in a title that will cost less than our re-release (HD Remix).”
PS2’s got Ethernet options too, Wiis have online, and had they included a PS3/360 release there would be even MORE incentive.
Wow @ people who expect a PS2 game to have netplay in the year 2009.
^ Lol exactly
GGAC+ coming to the PS2 and PSP is awesome news
wait do all the versions have the 3 on 3 mode?
the fact that its on ps2 means there definitely won’t be netplay. obviously a next gen port w/ netplay is preferred (or PC).
Okay, so you’re disappointed because you expect a small American publisher of Japanese games to port a Japanese PS2 game to the PS3 and do their own upscaling, netcode and everything else on their own without the developer.
And if the story’s shitty or not doesn’t really matter, people like the characters and seeing them interact. Some people would buy it just for the soundtrack. If nothing esle, I see this as positive since it will bring that many more people into the GG scene. I think Aksys should mention the reworked EX characters in their ad copy too, they’re a definite improvement over the EXs before, though they’d only entertain people like us for maybe a few minutes.
The kind of negativity I see here is part of why the GG scene isn’t taken as seriously, and partly why we’re excluded from majors. If we don’t get our heads out of asses and be positive, this game and games like it will be gone from the scene entirely.
