So far, the actually offline portion of the game seems legit - training mode, game options (voices for sol incl.) , display options: (I turned anti-aliasing off - the sharpness made it looks worse imo) change the side borders, hud position. Doesn’t feel like the timing is off or anything, I’m landing all of my FRCs consistently so lag input doesn’t seem like an issue but that’s just me.
Only downsides so far that I can see is that there is no shortcut mode so you can’t get the vertical style menu and no rematch function in versus (*BUT it goes back to character select screen very quickly afterwards and remembers your last pick so it’s not a loss as far as loading goes). The presentation and interface fonts are terribly basic (such as when it says it’s saving or searching for matches online) and the network mode menus are bare-bones in a manner of speaking. There’s no rotating indicator (like spinning dots in the corner of the screen) to show that the search function is working, it just gives you something or asks you to try again. Online seems hit or miss, but I will try later when there’s more activity.
So, nitpicky assessment from me there but just getting the details out there.
So I’m hearing bad input delay…wtf. Maybe this netcode can pass for other games but it has to be perfect quality(by perfect I mean like, GGPO or atleast P4U) for a game like GG. How disappointing…
when you play it on your sdtv, did you try changing the aspect ratio settings in the console’s OS to specify that it’s outputting to a 4:3? i don’t even know if that’ll help, but i’m hoping you’re wrong and PS3 won’t end up with the same problem.
Holy original Xbox release netcode, Batman! Is there any hope that they’ll patch this so I’m not trying to play 0.5 seconds ahead and can actually react to things?
Wow, disappointing that the online is bad given how good Arcsys is with netcode. I was going to pick it up just to support good netcode and fuck around with Potemkin. What a shame.
I was going to get this and knock the dust off myself but…too many folks are bitching about the netcode. SNK taught me the hard way about rushing games down.
