Guilty Gear XX Accent Core PLUS R: New update for GGXX! coming to Arcade, PSN, XBLA and now Vita!

for how the matchups would change, we dont know, and we wouldnt know for a good time after the release,
about the meta game, im pretty sure that you are using the word incorrectly, but, pretty sure that the “metagame” wouldnt change since there arent changes to the game engine

LOL… what?

Hmmm, I always thought metagame involved the sway and evolution of strategies used in the game; the whole ratchet effect, you know. I’ll look it up to make sure, though. I don’t know think someone could read my questions and think I know enough about the FG genre to know what I’m talking, but no point in risking tainting a new comer with my scrubbery.

Also, I’m aware that no one “knows” how match ups will change. I’m just curious about what you all think will happen. Nothing wrong with a little Theory Fighter every now and then. I think it’s pretty fun to discuss things like that while we wait. Tis all.

lucky me some people posted it this same day so i dont have to write it

noob =/= scrub

the thing is that we dont even know if the changes would stay after the 1st local test, we also dont know if those are the only changes that have been made so far, after the local test many things can and more than probable would change
one thing would be after we get info and hopefully videos after the 1st local test, after that all theory fighting talk would have a base, before that is just mere speculation, but hey, that is just my opinion

Thats the thing. I dont get why certain aspects of metagame are separated in the definition or how my view is, at least in this case, wrong.

It seems like whoever wrote this is trying very hard - perhaps too hard - to separate strategy from the definition of metagame. While I admit that strategy itself is not metagame - my definition was the evolution and sway of strategies, which fits his definition-, I’ll not deny that strategy is a part of it. It’s the building blocks of meta game.

And I just disagree with ** “…but when players control the evolution of the game and take gameplay outside of the confines of what was intended”**
The amount of control players have is being over emphasized. No matter the technique, the ability to do so is already there. People discover new tech not make it. MVC2’s fly unfly was discovered not made. No changes were made to the game. Characters who have been able to do so have always been able to do so. If we were able to go back a few months or even years before that technique was found, you’d still be able to use it. We simply find new things and adapt, usually by creating strategies and counters strategies in response to newly discovered techniques. In other words it’s the player’s who are evolving, not the game. Were like animals with newly opened eyes and seeing the world for the first time. The world was always there, we simply weren’t able to comprehend certain aspects of it until we ourselves made certain changes.
Additionally, it makes it seem like the writer is saying that intentions and expectations are synonymous. I mean, what exactly are the developers intending? It most certainly isn’t strategy. Developers have little say in strategy and how it changes. People simply cant think of every single scenario in games like this. With the exception of SSBB, how many fighting game developers don’t intend to have their game evolve competitively over time? Are you talking purely of system mechanics? What experienced developer says “this will only be used a certain way” and nothing exploitable will be found? I cant say any of them do; they know good and well that their main audience has a knack for “breaking” whatever they put out, though they will place safe guards to prevent things from being too broken. However, their intentions may be met with that which they did not expect. Take for instance the lovable glitch fest that is MVC2. I’m pretty sure they didn’t expect fly-unfly, though they did intend for fly to be used strategically. Perhaps I’m just being nit-picky about wording, but intentions most often used to describe a goal not a path to a goal, though it can be used as such. It’s a single point that is “confined” only by creativity. They give us tools, we decide how to use them, and in the process we find new things to use…

…plus the first and last sentences dont even make sense together. It’s not really a game out side of the game if you define it by taking “gameplay” ,which is in and defined by -with often unexpected results- the game, beyond what was “intended.” >_>

I know I’m prpbably being nitpicky about wording. I get that way sometimes and I apologize if I’m needlessly arguing or misread or misunderstood. I agree with most of the definition since it reflects mine, but that last part…it’s just fluff to me.

Also, thank you for responding politely. So many other users would simply get…pissy…for looking at things differently or not understanding.

I’m enjoying this conversation very much. I’ll be sure to come here more often.

Ok, I thought these changes were final. I simply misread and didnt know it was a loc test. My bad.

So no one’s posted the changes? I’m gonna link to the compiled list of changes since it’s too long to quote: http://neoempire.com/forum/showpost.php?p=453188&postcount=83

hmm, these changes

HMMM, THESE CHANGES

no prob, if you want to talk about the changes you can go to this thread
http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?13487-Guilty-Gear-Accent-Core-Plus-R!-Loketests-June-2-3!&p=1336343#post1336343
any questions that you could have can be answered there, after all dustloop is the place for the guilty gear talk

Cool and thanks.

WHAT? Sol’s changes are amazing!

Speaking of Sol changes, do we know if we’ve got George Badguy and Order-George yet? I know it’s only a loketest, but hey, you never know.

Guilty Gear - Too many suffixes addition

I’m so hype, I still play AC regularly .

Well now I don’t have any reason to brush up on my BL loops, since they’ll be gone pretty soon. May also seemed to have lost her vertical dolphin loops. Looks like May will be garbage tier again. I wonder what kind of combos will be possible now.

On dustloop from doragonkoroshi:
“Efute was able to get sweep, horizontal dolphin, hs rolling, (2s, horizontal, hs rolling)x2. Might be something there.”

Oh, ok. Thanks.

man, that other guy is awesome too: he has a superhero jaw, and he rocks stubble on his face, AND the pattern on his lunch bowl matches his shirt!

we should just fly out there and high-five the shit out of them.

He looks alot like Arisaka (most likely is).

maybe marn can lead it too!

Marn? Nah, don’t want him. But, if it were Mr. N on the other hand…
