GUILTY GEAR xrdrev2 SUCKS

TH ABRIDGED VERSION! I don’t think enough people read:
----People will not play me more then one game, they walk away!!! (they leave the arcade cabinet)
----Someone stole my seat once. That’s gay!!! (also happens in Blazblue)
----My point is that the players ARE THERE, the America lobbies are dead, not the Japan lobbies. I have a feeling noone wants to play me because I’m not doing combos yet. I am learning the game though and doing well without the combos.
----BTW once everyone started avoiding me WITHOUT PLAYING ME ONCE! THEY GET UP AND WALK AWAY!

This fuckin game man. I’m playing it and first off, the AMERICA lobbies are empty, and second, all the Japs are ASSHOLES! They keep leaving the damn arcade cabinet after one game with me! Win or lose! It’s like they don’t respect me cause I don’t know any combos n shit. The only difference is I’d win way more often! You look at the ammount of damage I did with just jab jab jab combos and see that if I did even one combo I woulda won. Losing isn’t even the point! For two sessions straight already nobody wants to play me! People started getting off the arcade cabinet before even playing a match with me! IT’S INSANE!!! IT’S MADNESS! FUCK GUILTY GEAR! I shoulda bought Tekken.

Oh and somebody stole my god damn seat once. THE ONE TIME THE DUDE DIDN’T GET UP AND LEAVE! THIS IS A TERRIBLE LOBBY SYSTEM!!! JUST PLAY THE DAMN GAME!!!

That is all. That has been my experience with guilty gear

The japs are probably leaving because you lag horribly. They’re used to good connections and can get good connections with other Japanese players.

I wasn’t lagging with them. Most of the time it’s below 7 frames. Don’t what if my wall of text.
BTW one US player ragequit and told me to go back to streetfighter after I beat him with Jab combos. I wonder if the japs feel the same way.

Oh wait, I actually have footage of the dudes rage quit, lol. Skip to 1:52 for the short version

I would not say this game sucks, but it is too heavy on combo porn (with a lack of pushback) and oki setups. I would say that the balancing is not that good either. I still prefer Guilty Gear XX: Slash to anything Arc System Works has put out over the course of their entire history.

As far as your match is concerned there were plenty of opportunities for you to do more damage/punish and your opponent did not seem to be very aware of the defensive options in the game as there were several opportunities to tech out of those jab strings. This game definitely offers more than either of you seem aware of, so maybe if you put in more time you could get more out of the game.

I don’t think you read what I typed in the original post. But my issue with the game is that online, people will not stay on the arcade cabinet and just play the game with me. I like to learn the game before the combos. I feel that people ditch me after one game because I am not doing combos yet. Even if I still do well without them.

BTW, I’ve figured out stuff like, The DUST button is a universal overhead and universal sweep. Alot of characters can run forward, neutral jump, and land a crossover. Use YRC to take advantage of the match for free. (run in behind a fireball ect). ect. ect. ect. The game is fun. I just want people to PLAY ME.

I had a similar experience of totally dead online on PS4. Supposedly the PC version is a bit more populated but I’m not gonna drop the cash to find out. (Yes I also tried finding matches on discord)

I’ll just list a few things…

  • Non-Japanese players use player lobbies, not the big lobbies. Easier to see ping, do rematches and other things, so we prefer that.

  • Delay 7, to me, especially if you’re on PS4, is in the unplayable territory. On PC, which can reduce the input delay for the game so the online added delay matters less, delay 5 is the highest I’ll go. On PC delay 2-3 depending on your setup is like playing offline. If I were on PS4 I would probably cap myself at delay 3.

  • Ordinarily I would say players get up because of skill difference, though I admit that person you fought in the video could have learned things from fighting you. Personally, I will play slow against new players, so they can learn – but sometimes I want to be challenged too, so I will just get up and walk at points. This is pretty normal for a low population game.

  • Use the guilty gear discord to try and get matches against new players.

  • I also recommend even just fighting the CPU, if you’re new to the extent you’re not doing combos yet.

  • Frustrating as it can be, try and be humble. That guy called you out for being random – which you’re learning, that’s pretty normal. Fighting back with you beating him with jab combos is not going to make him want to stick around.

I haven’t been playing, but if you’re on PC, I’ll play you sometime if you want. Same name on Steam as here.

XRD is a fantastic fighting game, so if you enjoy it, stick to it. It has endless room for improvement, but it’s also a tough game to get into.

The magical solution is ports.
UPNP, DMZ or manual setting of ports make all the difference.
I play Koreans on the daily.

It should, though. If the guy can’t deal with ‘randomness’ or silly strategies, then he should want to learn how to. Reacting to the unexpected is a core skill in all fighting games.

I agree. I specified in my post that the guy in the video could have learned things from fighting the OP. That said, being respectful when the opponent is salty is the better way to get more matches. That depends on the person, of course.

If I’m losing to random crap, I’d only be more driven to rematch – but I play to learn, a lot of players play to win at the start which is the worst way to play starting out. Guilty gear is actually an unfortunate game for players with that mindset, because it’s a game where formulating good offense is easy, and getting wins from it is possible as a result. The amount of people I’ve beaten by just doing safe jump HS into Jam’s 5k low is pretty ridiculous. Great players in GG are defined by their defense, so it’s a shame so many players forego learning to block.
