Also TMNT Tournament Fighters on SNES (1993) had a proper super bar that when you had less health, filled faster. It also filled faster when your opponent blocked attacks.
People really need to watch the trailer in 1080p it looks gorgeous. This game is also in development which means it will only look even better when it comes out.
I’m hype, but I’m not too fond of the base designs for Sol and Ky in this. Sol looks huge compared to previous installments and I don’t like the ribbon in his hair. Fuuken looks badass though.
Ky looks fine for the most part, but the pony tail really makes him looks like a girl unfortunately.
Also, I’m going to go out and say it. I’m honestly a bit GLAD they used models instead of sprites. Reason being, they can do stuff like alternate costumes to remedy gripes like these.
And you need to word you post properly if you expect people to get what the hell you are saying. Because as it reads, “no effort” and “not-that-hard to hit attack” are pretty dumb overly simplifying definitions for Gold Bursts, because nowhere there I can guess you speak about execution. And even that would make no sense, since if you are committing to a risky move in order to get a reward it does require effort, because you need to make a correct read or waste your burst and your life. You are taking a risk and sacrificing a defensive option in order to get offense.
I think a lot of people are noticing how they are treating the models like 2D sprites. There are no inbetween frames in the animations and the shading is isolated from other sources like the stage’s lighting or hitsparks and other effects. They are respecting players need for clarity, over gilts and glam. Things like lighting on sprites in Skullgirls or all the tweening in 3D fighters always annoyed me, adds too much noise. Ky and Sol never cross sides but I would assume the models will be mirrored like how they did Battle Fantasia.
I don’t like how GG was animated in XX and I especially don’t like it now that everything else is HD. It looks incredibly jarring and bad how jerky the keyframes of the animation are. In GG I didn’t really mind as much because it wasn’t a huge title and they were sprites, so it was somewhat forgivable. Now though? No excuse at all. The one thing I will give it credit for is that now that everything is 3D the backgrounds don’t look stupid like they did in BB and P4 because of the clash with sprites vs 3D, and that’s fine, but god damn give those animations some in between frames.
Man, they pulled off the look so well with 3D I couldn’t even tell it was 3D until it did the whole moving camera angle thing, just looked like high rez sprites.
And so this is how they avoid making Guilty Gear XXX.
Remember back in the day when you first saw games use polygons and you thought to yourself that one day they would be able to use those to replicate your favorite anime in this way?
