This game has been nothing but hype for me so far. All I need now are Slayer and Baiken and Iāll be set(though on an unrelated note I would appreciate it if ASW would at least work with Microsoft one last time to get the 360 patch for AC+R upā¦). I will only say one thing on the guts discussion, cause it seems both sides arenāt getting each other.
Hecatom, I think you could have just said this and Hyper Inferno should get the difference. If this wasnāt the case, Hyper Inferno would be right and any damage modifiers could be accounted for by just putting the health at a set value. But since guts only modifies damage once at the beginning of the combo, it is completely different than normal damage scaling. For example, if a character got comboed from 52% health, it would do the same damage as a combo done from 51%. But due to guts, if done at 50% the combo damage is modified. Thatās all you really need to know about the differences.
Wonder if they will have all the characters from Accent core plus, and if they will have brand new created characters for this game. Iām thinking Kliff, Justice, Robo Ky, and Order Sol wonāt be included.
go into the fgd lounge and explain this further, because you could do combos similar to hd combos in max mode in 2k2 (i forgot 98ās shit). even yuris maxmode combo from 2k2 is like the same one in kof13. i dont know how the fundamentals are weaker in kof 13. youre telling me hyper hop pressure, hop pressure, knowing when to blowback, footsies, knowing when to gc roll, knowing when to roll, execution, understanding and using the correct normals, block string pressure, ācustom combosā (maxmode and hd combos), and matchup knowledge are all significantly weaker in kof 13?
I think the time freeze RC could potentially help and hurt people. Itās good in that itāll probably make some RC combos easier like maybe I-noās airdash after CL. But It also makes some mixups a bit easier to see at the cost. But Iāve seen the time freeze and it only lasts like, a second if even that long.
Or you could say that FADC are like the retarded version of Roman cancels, mostly False Roman cancels to be precise since they are done at a specific frames of certain moves. After all, GG did it way before SF
RCās having a superfreeze effect wonāt affect much anything other than smoothing out the divide between experienced players and newbies. Must RC now already have a freeze just due to hitstop. What few RC-able moves in the game that have 0f of hitstop will be nerfed, if they even come back in Xrd. But for the most part, experienced players already know of what ever mixup potential there is, and now newbies can have a chance to know wtf is going on.
If a comeback mechanic isnāt specifically geared to create comebacks then itās not a comeback mechanic. Guts is a comeback mechanic and it is also a bad thing. Just because we ignore it (because itās very easy to) doesnāt mean itās not a negative.
Youāre using a pretty broad brush here.
Having the game artificially pick up your slack, even slightly, based upon your disadvantaged position will always be a bad thing for a competitive game. There really is no room for discussion. If the game interferes arbitrarily in favour of the losing player, you are losing competitive credibility. The game becomes that much less a measure of the disparity of the playerās valuable, transferable skills. Iām really disappointed that this is even a point of contention.
@comeback mechanic discussion whiners: I sympathise, but what else do we have to discuss here? Suggestions welcome.
I hope there are some good setups to combo into Dragon Install here, and hopefully some combos that end with a knockdown long enough for Sol to recover without getting blown up.
Seeing as thereās now a thread on comeback mechanics can we all agree to talk about them there? Or do I have to delete every new post on them here for people to stop?
Is Xrd going to get its own subsection when it comes out? It would be a shame to just leave it as one FGD thread when Dive Kick, Skullgirls, and Blazblue have their own subsections.
One thing Iāve been wondering about is how receptive the FGC will be to Xrd, more specifically the American FGC. GG has always been big in Japan. All the ASW games are big there. Itās the western countries where itās been a struggle to get enough support behind them. The biggest thing GG has to overcome is the negative connotation of āanimeā that has become a stigma for any game that even somewhat resembles that type of animation. Although the character design and plot for this game are generally unlike the common stereotypes of anime, the fact that itās in Japanese and it is drawn automatically gives it an unpopular rep within the western FGC. Most FG players can acknowledge that GG is an excellent game, but never actually pick it up based on skin-deep aesthetics alone. Possibly something ASW could do to give the game a more well received showing is include an english VA cast(I know long time GG fans will probably be adverse to this, but I think it will help). Keeping the game strictly Japanese will likely end in only a small niche group playing the game again, which is what I donāt want to happen.
