Hope the the game will keep the dynamic spacing and neutral game instead of bait for big combo. Kind of liked how sometimes it was just a 4 hit knowdown combo istead of a huge punish like mvc3 and to a smaller extent, blaz blue

Agree, the games have gotten a bit too long combo oriented this past gen.
They should tone it down from Blazblue. Some characters have great punishes, they are damaging but not “Too long”. Characters like Litchi can be hit with a bag of dicks imo. Her combos just never finished in the corner.
I’m fine with long combos, though I’d like GG length combos to stay GG length. I don’t mind big corner combos going on longer though.
I really don’t see a lot of stuff changing gameplay wise for Xrd. I can’t explain why… I just think with Ishiwatari back at the helm all the stuff we’ve loved about GG, especially the older games like it’s strong oki, neutral game and general pacing will remain unchanged.
Then again, I do love me some Sidewinder/Badlands loops in AC. Hype too stronk
I wonder if they’re going to tone down the damage. Anyone get hit by Slayer’s 2H into BBU combo? Or DoT CH? His Abare was absolutely hilarious when you lost 50% from a single stray hit.
Potemkin buster FRC’s and Sol 6H are other things that lead into insane damage.
I hope they keep it, to be honest. I don’t want a watered down “New” FG. I essentially want AC. Absurd Oki, Big damage, and tons of defensive options such as Slashback.

Slayers damage was already toned down in +R. Though make no mistake, on CH he can still take 50%. It’s just not his BnB anymore.

Potemkin’s +R buster does the damage it used to do WITH that previous FRC combo… And he can also combo after it in the corner. The downside is that now when done midscreen he throws the opponent across the screen and has to get in again. But you still did like a gazillion damage.

It’s possible. They’re characters within the Guilty Gear universe, may as well use them.
I never played Overture, but the designs of Izuna, Sin and Valentine definitely look very GGish, so here’s hoping. I also don’t know how seriously GG takes its story, but Xrd takes place a year after Overture, right? Maybe that’s their way of saying they haven’t forgotten that game. Heaven knows I certainly have lol…
