LOL at people complaining about balance of one set of the game. I’ll admit that I don’t follow it as much as I should, but I have friends who do and instead of complaining on the forums I decided to ask them about it instead. Based on what I’ve been told, it’s just like @OneSanitarium has stated, either FAB was having an off day, or Hasegawa was having a great one.
For a better representation of Pot and FAB at TGS, watch his match against Pachi who, by virtue of both having designed him and having the most time with him, is probably the best Sin at the moment. And lets not forget that Pachi has won SBO in addition to two 3rd place finishes (seriously, why can’t we have someone like this for Capcom).
Well, some people dont have fighting game friends. Like, Ive noticed that I kinda have to be unfiltered and just say what I think in a less refined manner so then I get feedback thats deadpan honest when I ask for why Im wrong.
The problem with HDR Gief is that he is a great version of Geif on top of people liking the challenge of playing from behind. There’s just some games where playing the mid tier to low tier characters is fun for the mental challenge. ST gief was definitely one of those. Sirlin did the right thing by making him less shitty, but that one aspect he had went away.
Although if you really wanna see a grappler with mobility, look at Cerebella in Skullgirls; so damn nuts.
That said, I recall Mike saying something about how hard it was to balance grapplers since. By design, they’re “front loaded” in that they get their moves (command throws) are on their own, already pretty damaging. Now, by making them really good at the start of a game’s life, you risk them getting broken later on once people start to discover more things. Try to limit them and they either end up too weak at the start, or they start out strong but eventually get eclipsed by the rest of the cast.
Straight zoners seem to be in the same category. Buff the zoning too much and you get Nu-13 in CT, make them too shitty and you have CE Dhalsim. I guess what I’m trying to say is fuck Peacock really.
I guess this is probably why GG (and alot of other games) avoid straight up zoners and go for ones that only rely on the zoning to create setups and openings. That said, Peacock’s Cable and Spiral rolled into one, what’s not to love.
If you search Youtube i’m sure you’ll find some Xrd footage of Chipp in action. I recently even watched a combo vid of his. Sadly, i don’t have the link.
In an earlier release of the artwork that is being used for the cover, you only saw Sin, Sol, Ky, Elphet, and Valentine. In that magazine scan you can now see a side view of Leo at the top. I think this pretty much confirms that he will be the last DLC character before the console release of the game. Granted, there were some hints about him within the TGS trailer but I think that that cover art seals the deal.
Also, I don’t know about you guys but the wait for this game is excruciating long for me. I’m fucking counting the days to the PS4 demo that’s how desperate I am. Even the huge amount of fighting games I can play such as KoFXIII, UNIEL, DFC, P4U2, and Love Max can’t ease the wait for me.
