I’m a fan of buffer Sol and ponytail Ky. Don’t turn into pre-release Diablo 3 screen editors, people.
Come on son; really? HOS Fafnir is a great example of FB moves done right. Immensely powerful in the right situations, but not the end all to his gameplan.
It doesn’t sound right to me either but heck yeah dudes, shoutouts to Paperman!!
I dunno, I think his sword is just shorter.
Hos Fafnir was incredibly stupid, just in the realm of other AC things, didn’t seem that way.
I’m with spirit juice on FB and Slash backs. It’s not that the mechanics themselves are bad, I don’t feel that way at all. It’s just that guilty gear was never designed with them in mind. EX moves and parry’s were totally just tossed on by Mori’s crew to change up the game to justify a new one, and then desperate attempts were made to balance what was left. Characters never “needed” Force breaks to be complete characters, and meter management in guilty gear was already way more complex than any other fighting game. Right now, I have seen nothing but a return to reload/slash era guilty gear mechanics (although they did add an AMAZING looks ground slide), so I am excited.
As for the person asking about grapplers, Pote/Sol/May are your basic grappler, although many characters have very powerful throws. Off the top of my head, corner throw with HOS, Dizzy, johnny, eddie, venom, actually now that I got started it would probably be easier to list the characters that DON’T get good options off throws. Throws are very strong in guilty gear, probably the strongest game since ST.
I agree that in the context of a GG game that wasn’t AC, HOS Fafnir is practically straight up clownshoes levels of retarded. However, thanks to how relatively crazy AC is in general it really wasn’t that bad. Concerning Spirit Juice’s post concerning FB and Slash backs, I’m neither here nor there on the former. I feel like they have a good idea going on that they didn’t quite flesh out for everyone. I feel there is a valid debate there though concerning if they should even exist in the first place. I totally agree about Slashbacks though; that mechanic feels almost entirely superfluous, aside from some niche uses here and there that have, for the most part, already been covered.
Also, if you want a “hybrid” grappler-esque character, I’d err more on the side of May than Sol. However, try both of them out as one of them may have that right amount of mix and match that you’re looking for.
I’m pretty sure sol is the most fit for louiscipher. And destin is right, in certain situations throws themselves are almost like command grabs that lead into full combo’s. actually, think of some of them like nova’s from umvc3. magneto’s is almost identical to sols command grab in the way you can get a good damage combo from anywhere on screen. louis, if you think of a pressure/rushdown character with (pretty sure if i remember right) the best dp in the game with a magneto-esque command grab, there ya go.
KOF 13 Terry = Gears of War Terry in my opinion.
Didn’t “seem that way”? That’s because it’s not. Order-Sol isn’t scaring anyone with his force break. His force break on paper sounds great but it ultimately fell to the wayside. Now, it’s hardly ever used. Hell I don’t even recall people even using it in +R from what I’ve seen. Order-Sol has his key staple moves that are in constant use and Fafnir isn’t even at the bottom of that list. I myself was hype when I first got my hands on the move. Comparing how powerful it is by comparing GG to some other game isn’t even fair. GG’s cast is a well developed cast that left the restrictions of what you’d see in SF. I mean Sol can take 40% life no meter into an untechable KD and has tools that’ll make most of the SF cast look like a joke.
I think people are looking at the positives of the move and ignoring how little it is used. If the move is so great and wonderful, why doesn’t anyone use it? I’ll bring up Grand Viper in the case for Sol. Here is a hitconfirmable move that does 40% damage and leads to an untechable KD. Yet it’s hardly used and I’m assuming it’s because Sol has to hit pretty deep to connect it. So players avoid it and stick to things that can be constantly reliable. On paper these moves sound great and can do big damage. But that’s all people are seeing. If the move in question is hardly utilized in the character or player’s gameplan, then it falls to the wayside and gets ignored in the end. Just look at force break Sidewinder. You play Sol in +R, you’re using it.
why DON’T people use it in GGAC… seems strange to me they can’t get good with such a solid move and hitting it reliably at least a couple of times. to me that move is a ryu low forward that’s been on a mountain doing ju-jitsu for 50 years.
Someone needs to Photoshop buff Sol saying “Do you even lift?”
This version looks much more right.
SF4 syndrome indeed. Marvel struk a good balance in its models so I know it can be done with out all this excess buffness. Hopefully they dial it back a bit Sol is looking way too buff. Reminds of when I first saw Fei and Guy in SF4. Shit looks off.
he didn’t look too bad in the actual gameplay footage. actually he looked kinda good.
I stopped at GGXX#R. What happened to GG, is it Guilty Gimmicks now?
I’d support going back to its roots. SF4 is basically SF2, and it was wonderful.
IF this game will be released on the next-gen consoles I’m definitely getting the PS4 version because, the Xbox One FAILS!!! Especially Microsoft!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone drop the ball quite so hard.
I’d get it for PS4 just so I can take it places and play without having to download my god damn account to some other dudes machine. I’ll get high as shit and forget to delete it before I leave and fuuuuck no I don’t trust any of my friends not to do some stupid shit with it while it’s there.
Still trying to contain the hype, had to hit up youtube for to the classic.
Are you talking about me?
